If you were working for the weekend you are finally happy to see Friday. I am not looking forward to today so much. Nancy is gone and I will be busy all day and we have a bunch of stuff going on at work that is stressful. Nothing that is too terrible but unpleasant and part of the job.
Jessi had a track meet last night. She ran the open 400. She got 3rd place with a time of 63.49 seconds. It was her best time of the year so far and the best time on the team. Her coach told her if she knocks a second off her time she can make it to state. It gives her something to shoot for.
She also ran the 4x400, they came in second. She ran a 63.44 seconds. They actually have a pretty good 4x400 team. They have one weak link and if they can get her time down they may have a shot at state as well.
I worked the track meet. I might as well get paid $25 to watch Jessica run. I was a "picker". What that is, is one of the people who pick who came in what place. I had second, so as the runners ran through I would say who came in second. It takes 12 people to work the finish line. 6 timers, that time the runners and 6 pickers. It is a good job because I get to be there at the finish line when the Goose runs.
There is another track meet today but it is supposed to rain all day so I am not sure what will happen. It is out of town and I am not going to this one.
We are going to Marshalltown tomorrrow for a Volleyball tournament. We have to be there at 7:45 am so we are going to have to leave at 6:00 am. That sucks on a Saturday.
I will take pictures this week for the blog.

What to say Wednesday
The first week after spring break is moving right along. We have had bunch on non-sense to deal with at work lately so that is never a good time. I hope next week goes better.
I started my running regiment this week and yesterday I recruited Drew to go on a run with me. We took Shelby girl and ran 2 1/2 miles. Drew did pretty good but said he would only do that a couple of times a week with me. Shelby was sucking wind by the end. I think she is still sleeping it off. Two and a half miles may be a little much for the little pup.
Jessi helped at a youth softball clinic last night. She had the 10 and under group. She was not looking forward to it but thought it went ok. She was a little frustrated with some of the skill levels but I had to remind her that she was at that level and I struggled through those years with her and Drew.
I am really dreding Thursday and Friday. Nancy is going to be gone for the funeral and I will have to face the students and teachers by myself. Nancy is kind of the buffer between me and them and she has to deal with most of the little issues that can be quite annoying. With her gone, my buffer is gone. It will just be ME and THEM! UGH! Maybe I will just take the network down and tell the staff we are experiencing problems and just go take a nap...lol
We name the psyco bird yesterday. Since I have formed this emotional bond with the little guy I thought it would be fitting to name him. Jessi thought "Crash" was appropriate so we went with that. As we were naming him, he was flying into the window. It is kind of like having a pet bird that I don't have to feed or care for. He is actually a pretty bird too so its not such a bad thing if you think about it.
I hope everyone has a great day today. Miss ya.

It depends on the Weather
The weather has been up and down. We had a wonderful day yesterday. High in the 80's and sunny! It was awesome. Today it is much colder and a chance of rain. I think we are scheduled for rain all week. Much like the week of Spring Break when mother nature was sticking it too me. Refer to an earlier post for the details on that nugget.
The Microsoft trip is a go. We have the agenda, the flight has been booked. All we have to do now is count down the days. It should be a fun time and a nice get away from the normal grind of our work days. The agenda is pretty agressive so there won't be a whole lot of time for anything else but it will be a cool experience. I will post pictures of the trip after I get back. The dates are April 24-27.
Nancy's father-in-law passed away yesterday. It is always hard when someone in the family passes. She will miss a couple of days work this week and it wont be the same without her. I have been fortunate to not have to experience too much death in my life and want to keep it that way so you bastards stay safe and healthy.....GOT IT?
The psyco bird is still at it. I have to say it is kind of funny to watch but as long as he takes nights off, I don't really care if he pecks all day. He is actually kind of growing on me. If he stops I may miss him.
Jessica has a track meet here it Perry, Thursday. I hope the weather is ok. Nothing is more miserable than having a track meeting the rain. She also has another track meet on Friday. I am not sure where that one is. Saturday we are off to Marshalltown for a volleybal tournament. It is about an hour and a half away and we have to be there at 7:45 am. That sucks on a Saturday.
Drew should be starting baseball practice April 1st. We haven't recieved a schedule yet but his coach called and said they would be starting soon.
At this point I am like a twig floating down the mighty Mississippi. I just float along and go where life takes me.
I hope things are going well for everyone. I miss ya.

You Keep On Knocking But You Can't Come In
I don't usually post on Sunday's but I had to show you all this.
Yesterday morning I wake up to something hitting my bedroom window. We have a bunch of bird around here and we occasionally have one of the stupid bastards fly into a window. It happens a couple of times a week so this is not something unusual.
Then I hear it again, and again, and again. I get up to see what is going on and there is this cardinal ousite the window sitting in a bush and then lauching himself into the window. The psyco bird kept it up all day. He would smash the window four or five times and then go to another tree and sing and then back to the bush and into the window.
Here are the pictures.
Overnight he went away but 7:00 this morning he was back at it. I am not sure what he wants at this point but he really wants in the house.

Suddenly Saturday
The weekend is here with a bang. Thunderstorms are rolling across the state of Iowa and we have been getting a pretty good shower here. I think we are supposed to get rain on and off all day today but it is going to get much better tomorrow. The temp is warm so it is kind of nice.
Jessica had her track meet yesterday. She ran the 400, 4x100 relay and the 200. I haven't talked to her yet today so I am not sure how she thought she did. I think her times were good and I know she was the fastest time in the 4x100 relay.
Drew and I went to the movies last night. We went to Des Moines and ate at Culvers. Drew had never been there before so I thought he might like it. He said he wasn't hungry so I had a cheeseburger and he had cheese balls and a oreo cookie shake.
We had about an hour and a half to kill before the movie started so we went to the American store and played with the stereo equipment. The salesman was kind of irritated because we were just pushing buttons and trying stuff out. He kept saying "Can I help you?" I just kept sayying "no". lol.
We then messed around in the home theater area, cell phone area and TV section. Our last stop was the mattress area. We tried all the mattresses that I will never be able to afford. Then I took him to the ones I can afford and he said "These are hard!"lol
The movie we saw was "Wild Hogs". It is the movie with John Travolta, Tim Allen and two other guys that have a little motorcycle club. The four of them just ride around every Sunday and they decide to take a trip across the country.
It is a funny movie and I would recommend it.
Today is the start of the weekend. No real plans at this point but you just never know what will happen.

Fish Friday
Friday has arrived very quickly this week. Since we have had a week of no students or staff at school it has been a very good week. As with all good things, they come to an end. Here it is Friday already. Most weeks I am looking forward to Friday and am so happy when it arrives. This week Friday comes with a touch of sadness as Spring Break comes to an end.
How many of you are eating fish today? I have kind of given up, giving things up for lent. Easter is just around the corner and it seems as if we are having typical spring weather for now. Lots of rain but the temp is good so it sort of evens out.
Jessica and I had a nice night at home alone last night. Dawn and Drew were at one of Dawn's friends house. The woman has a son and her son is one of Drew's friends so they were gone for most of the night. Jessi and I played a little basketball. (I still can beat her but she is getting much, much better. It won't be long.) We had a little dinner and then watched some tv and chatted. These times have become precious to me. They happen rarely so I enjoy them when they do. Kids grow up so fast.
I am looking forward to summer and the weather getting nice. I also wouldn't mind swinging the old golf clubs again.
I looked for some new pictures on the digital camera but there wasn't much there. I will try to get some pictures taken this weekend.
A relatively uneventful blog today but you can't be a rock start everyday. :)

Wet Wednesday
It was officially Spring last night at 7:07 PM. Today we have clouds and rain with the potential for some severe weather. On the bright side, it looks like Friday is going to be in the 60's and nice.
I wanted to post some pictures today but I could not find the dang digital camera. I found the USB cord but the camera seems to have dissapeared from the "House of Magic". I should probably elaborate on the "House of Magic" deal.
My house is a magic house! Things dissapear, lights turn on by themselves and things get broken with no explanation. Now in most homes you would think the children would be the cause of most of these events.....Not Here. The kids assure me that they turned off all the lights in the basement, however; when I check there is a light or two, still on. Must be magic! We lose the remote control to the tv or in this case the digital camera. The kids assure me they put it back on the end table. Must be magic! Something gets broken in the house. The kids assure me that they have no idea what happened. Must be magic!
Like I said I live in a magic house where nobody is aware of how all of those things occur.
On a different subject - Throughout the last 5 or 6 years I have made up stories to tell the kids when we go on long drives or when we are just sitting around bored. These stories are typically pretty long and involve a young person or animal having an adventure. Most of the stories are just made up on the fly as we drive along the road or sit around talking but the kids seem to enjoy them. Jessica is always wanting me to continue with a story or tell her another one.
What I have decided to do is to type up these stories into a collection and give it to the kids for them to keep. I also had a stipulation to them recieving the stories. They must tell those stories to their kids when they get older and add one to the collection themselves. They must also only give these stories to thier kids if they promise to do the same. I figure over time it may be a nice collection of stories and will be interesting from generation to generation. I really hope they follow through with this. As for my part; I started typing the stories into the computer a week ago. It will probably take me a few months or longer to get them all type in but I will get it done.
Ok, enough for now. More tomorrow.
