Like eating a gourmet meal with a hair in it

The weather lately is picture perfect as long as you don't have to be out in it. The sky has been blue, the sun has been shining and the wind is blowing 45 mph. Mother nature seems to be a little pissed because we just haven't had a string of nice days in a long time. Granted, we have a day or two from time to time but overall there has been many more miserable days than nice days.

Drew is enjoying his summer vacation. He played outside from noon until 7:00 last night. He could obviously care less about the wind.

Jess had a softball game last night. The JV lost but they cut the game short to get the varsity game started. I think they only played 3 innings. She is in drivers education now and drives on Wednesdays. I wanted to give anyone living close a fair warning about driving on Wednesday.

The golf game went pretty well last night. I shot one over my handicap so it wasn't too bad. I had a pretty good round going and then I think the beer kicked in and I kind of fell apart the last few holes. Oh well. I would rather golf poorly and do a little drinking than golf well and not get to kick back and relax.

The weekend is upon us. I only have one small appointment today and the rest of the day I can get some work done. I have a bunch of work to do this summer but I am going to try to reserve Friday for a slow down day where we take it easy and have a little fun. If we don't do this, we will burn out quick and it will be a long summer. I don't mind working hard all week but you need a little break as well so I deem Friday---------"Smell the flowers day!"

Jessica plays in a tournament today and tomorrow. Drew has practice tonight and a game on Sunday.

Can strong wind HELP my golf game?

The wind continues to blow but the sun continues to shine. It was a very wierd day yesterday. The wind was very strong all day but it was hot and sunny. It was the last day of school yesterday so we had a staff social. We sat on Nancy deck and we didn't really have bad wind on the deck but it was blowing so hard in the trees that we literally had to raise our voices to be able to have conversations. Today - More of the same.

Drew's team won their baseball game last night. The won 10-6 and Drew pitched the last out of the game. They put him in with two kids on base and two outs. It took him 5 pitches but he struck out the last batter and ended the game. Since he only pitched 5 pitches he is eligible in the next game on Sunday.

Jessica's team won 9-7 and she had 5 hits. She starts drivers education today. I got her up at 6 and she has to be at the school at 7. She is suprisingly in good humors. We will see how long that lasts.....lol

I golf tonight. It is going to be windy. I have not had a chance to practice. I am anticipating a poor round. It is a good thing they have beer!

I think Jessica has a tournament this weekend. I am not sure if it starts today or tomorrow.

This Blows!

The wind is going to be crazy today. The lying weather person said it is supposed to be constant 25 mile an hour wind with gusts up to 45 MPH. I hope my hair doesn't blow off today....it is only hanging on by a thread as is.

It is the last day of school for most of the district. Jess is done already. She finished her last final yesterday and going into finals had all A's. Her goal was a 4.0 this Trimester so we will have to see how the finals went.

Drew has his last day today but is done at 11:00 so it is a short day. He has mostly A's and a couple of B's. He should be honor roll again this trimester.

Both kids have games tonight. Jessica has an away game and Drew has one here in town.

18 days until I leave for California. It seems to be rushing up fast and I have a bunch of work to get done before I go. It should be a fun trip but it make June kind of push as far as work goes.

Little Molly has been on a terror lately. She is just playing and chewing on stuff, running around all crazy. She is a handful right now and is still having the occasional accident. I will be so glad when the potty training is done so I don't have to worry about that anymore.

It seems like Friday to me but it is only Wednesday. I think because of school getting out today and the relaxed atmosphere at school it kind of has an end of the week feel. I was thinking it was Friday all day yesterday too.

Here is a funny story for ya. At our elementary school the parents organization held a staff appreciation luncheon for everyone on Monday. Well.........the chicken was bad and it gave everyone who ate it screaming diareah!!!! The department of health came in and took stool samples (how funny is that) and everyone was on the hopper all day. I can honestly say the janitors earned their money cleaning the bathrooms yesterday. I can't help but laugh because it wasn't serious but it was seriously funny thinking of everyone running to the bathrooms during school yesterday. Can you imagine the smell of 50 people all having the screaming diareah????

Rapist still at large but I haven't heard of any more attacks. I hope they catch him soon.

Serious Spring/Summer Fever

The weather outside is great! The sun is shining with a few puffy clouds mixed into a vivid blue sky. Spring fever is upon me.

It has been such a busy spring that I have not had much of a chance to really think about warm weather fun but for some reason today it hit me. I feel like blowing off work and going to the lake. Not gonna happen but I sure feel like it.

Jess had a game last night. The Freshman team lost 18-0, her JV team lost 11-0 and the varsity lost 11-1, ten run rule ended that game.

Drew's team won 8-7. They are on a two game winning streak and I am glad for the boys. They are a great group of kids and it is nice to see them win some games.

I had to go to a school board meeting last night. They are discussing our salary increase for the year and it is always a mess. I hate this time of year because no one ends up happy. They ended up tabling the discussion for another meeting. Great! Prolong the agony! Anyway, I missed most of the games last night to be part of the madness.

The last day of school is tomorrow. Jessica has finals today and is done. She wont have to go to school tomorrow. Drew is going to the rec today and then they are having an outside picnic for lunch. They have great weather for it.

On the dark side of life. We have a rapist on the loose here in town. He has attacked three women, I think, and is still at large. He has targeted women walking or jogging and has broken into one home and sexually assulted a woman. It sure makes people uneasy here in town and I hope they catch him soon.

The odd thing about a situation like this is how you look at everyone suspiciously now. The guy is around 5'5 and is hispanic. That is a big part of our population so when you see a short hispanic guy walking down the street, it crosses your mind.....is it him?

Things like this are hard on a community. The weather is turning nice and people are afraid to be outside alone.

We keep our doors locked now.

Final Countdown

This is a Monday I am not too depressed about. There are only three days of school left and then the summer can officially begin. The weather is supposed to be good until after lunch and then it is going to be hit and miss as far as rain coming in.

The weekend went well. Drew's baseball team won their game, Jessica's team lost. The girls softball team had a weeked tournament with a bunch of 1A schools. We are 3A so we should have dominated. We ended up losing the championship to a 2A school. I am pretty sure we will have a poor season. There are a bunch of crazy stuff going on with the softball team and the coach has set them up to lose. I am not sure if I will even attend many games this year.

Molly is a little rascal. She is always running around, chewing on stuff and generally acting like a little toddler. She is a typical puppy, into everything and cute as a button.

I hope the first part of the week goes fast. I think it will. Most of the teachers have thier grades in already so these last three days are just cosmetic. Everyone is ready to get out. Jessi has finals today and tomorrow and then is done. She doesn't have to go on Wednesday at all.

Drew has a shortened schedule today and a talent show in the afternoon. He is not a participant. Tuesday his class is going to the rec center and Wednesday, they get out at 11.

Oh, Drew has a baseball game tonight. I am supposed to umpire (of course). I hope the weather holds up so we can get the game in.

My trip to California is less than three weeks away.
