ON TO STATE!!!!

She did it!!!!! Jessica ran the open 400 in 59 seconds flat. It was a very close race but she ended up second by a tenth of a second. The top two make it to state and she is in!!! Jess was very excited and relieved after all the stress of the day. The sprint medley team was in a tough battle with the fourth best time in the district. When Jess got the battan they were in 4th and she pulled them up to 3rd. They did finish 3rd but they take the top two from each district and then the top 8 times in the state. Jess ran a 58.5 second split for her 400 in the relay and the time they finished in was good. I looked on the website today and it looks like the relay team made it to state as well!!!!!

How awesome is that? Jess making it to state in two events. She will run Thursday at 1:30 for the open 400 and Saturday for the sprint medley.

Drew's baseball team won 10-9 last night. He hit a double that scored 2 runners. He also pitched a couple of innings and did well. They did hit a homerun off of him but that was the only big hit he gave up.

All in all it was a good day. Jess is at Adventureland today and Drew stayed overnight with a friend. I can't find the camera so when it turnes up I will post pictures from the track meet.

Fun Friday

It is finally Friday. Drew had a game last night. They lost by 10 runs. It was not a pretty game. They are going to have a long season.

As I arrive at the game last night. Drew comes running up to my car and says "You have to umpire tonight." I was less than thrilled by this but hardly suprised. I don't mind umpiring but it is more fun to be able to just watch the game in a lawn chair. I have the feeling I am going to get stuck doing this a bunch this year. I was already scheduled to home plate umpire more than any other dad and last night was just an extra. Oh well. I know what it is like to coach and have dads that won't help out.

Drew did well. He had an picture perfect bunt that advanced runners into scoring position. He also grounded out to first on his second, at bat. He pitched, which really sucks having to umpire when your son is pitching. He did well. I don't think he walked anyone.

Jess has her district track meet today. She is very, very nervous. I helped her find some relaxation scripts online last night so she was reading those and going through the steps. She said it really helped. It makes you focus on breathing and gets your mind to let everything else go. I told her to print it out and take with her to the meet. She is worried she wont make it to state. There are three girls that ran a sub 60 second 400 on Monday so she has her work cut out for her. She just needs to finish in the top two to qualify. Truth be told, I have butterflies in my stomach too.

I would have had pictures of Drew's game but I had to ump so I will get some at another game. Drew has a game tonight as well and I think he is going to pitch a lot so I am very dissapointed that I am going to miss it. The other two top pitchers maxed out last night and he should pitch 60 or more pitches tonight. I wish I could see him.

I will post the results of our big day tomorrow morning.

Miss you all.

Sunny and Hump Day

It is a beautiful day today. This is a great way to finish up a week. We are expected to be in the upper 70's to low 80's the rest of the week. WHOOO - HOOO!!!!

Drew is a working man. He had to cut the neighbor's yard last night after baseball practice. He really was not in the mood but he didn't complain he just went and got it done. I was proud of his attitude and it made me smile to see him working out there last night.

I made cheeseburgers on the grill and rice as a side. It is nice to have BBQ weather again. I think my grill will see quite a bit of action over the next few months.

Jess had practice and cleaned the kitchen. It has really been a calm week to this point. I am so used to having several activities going on and this week has been pretty slow. Drew has a baseball game tomorrow night and then Jess has her big track meet on Friday. The weather for both is predicted to be very good.

Since my last post was a bit boring I thought I would add some morning humor today.

* A mushroom walks into a bar. The bartender says, get the hell out of here, we don't serve your kind here. The mushroom says "Why not, I'm a fungi."

* A guy walks into a bar with jumper cables. The bartender says "You can stay but don't start anything."

* A grasshopper walks into a bar and the bartender says "Hey you are a local celebrity around here. We have a drink named after you." The grasshopper says "You have a drink named Steve?"

HAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAHA

Have a good day.

Rain Away

The rain is finally moving out of the area. It was pretty much done yesterday but they cancelled Jessica's track meet anyway. I think they had a lot of standing water on the field. They will have the conference meet next Monday.

Jess has the District meet on Friday. If she qualifies for state at that meet she will run at 1:30 on Thursday the 17th at state. I think the coaches are assuming she is in but a lot can happen in a week. I am kind of glad the conference meet was cancelled because it gives her a good week of training before Friday.

The rest of the day was uneventful. Work is busy. I love to do the technology work, it is the people problems that I find less than desireable. I think I need to find a way to relax!

I will post more tomorrow.

Mother Nature Still Stickin it to Us!

I wonder if anyone has started building an arc? This weather is horrible! Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain....Clouds, Clouds, Clouds..Repeat. I have always said that bad weather helps us appreciate the good weather. I am past that point. I think we are entitled some good weather from time to time and it is currently long overdue.

It was an uneventful weekend. It was Prom here and Jessica was a server for the dinner. She and a few of her friends had a good time checking out the dreses and the decorations. Drew went to a birthday party on Friday night and then spent the day at another friends house on Saturday. Sunday he slept most of the day.

We were scheduled to have a baseball game on Sunday. I was going to ump and I think Drew was scheduled to pitch. Not a good combination but it got rained out so mother nature spared me on that one.

Jessica is supposed to have her conference track meet today but it looks like rain all day so if they have it, I am sure it will be miserable. They have a rain make-up day for next Monday if they cancel today. She has the District meet to qualify for State on Friday. The weather is predicted to be good by then.

I have a very busy week ahead. Lots of meetings and still a load of work. I drank two glasses of wine last night to prepare me for the week. My dreams were crazy last night and I wonder if it had anything to do with the wine.

Summer is just a month away. School gets out June 6th. I am really looking forward to school being out and working on my projects.

We are going live with our online payment option at school today. I have everything setup and I will just make the link live and post the information on how to make it work, today. I am hoping to get a majority of the kids registered before they go home for summer. I eventually want to do away with August registration.

I will post pictures and results of the track meet tomorrow, if the weather doesn't postpone it.
