Phylis Diller Rocks!

We ended up playing golf last night. Not sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing. It seems that everyone in our league is forfeiting their matches so we have not had an opponent for three weeks. We get all the point when this happens so we received 12 points in the last three weeks. That gives us a total of 16.5 points for the year. (We were in last place.) The ridiculous thing is with the forfeits we have a shot at the playoffs.

I played like crap last night, which is becoming the standard for my game. I am not sure what the hell happened but I just can't seem to hit it clean anymore. Oh well.

The rain continues around here. My pump is pumping water out all the time so it is good that it is working or else I would probably have water in my basement.

Drew must have had a rough practice yesterday because when I got home from golf he was sleeping. Jess had a scrimmage last night. They apparently did pretty well.

So the food at Casey's is pretty good. I get food from there more than anywhere else in town. Here is the rub; it is a freakshow anytime you go into a place like that. It doesn't matter where you turn, there is a weirdo, a freak, a nut job or some other type of person in there. Barnum would have to look far to restock the freak show at the circus. (Side note: As I type this I realize that I shop there so I must therefore include myself as part of the circus)

Anyway, I like to get my lunch there. They have good pizza sandwiches, etc. I am always amazed at the quality of employee they seem to attract at these type of stores. I have seen a range of crack heads(Seriously), metally challenged, angry, crazy and just plain lazy. The one employee that I can think of that seemed to be nice and helpful with at least a sense of intellengence had a odd physical trait. She always wore white shirts and her nipples would always stick WAY out. But that's not all folks, the nipples always pointed different directions. One almost straight up in the air and the other either down and to the left.

Now I try to maintain a bit of decorum when out in public so if such an occurance were to happen in a normal environment I would try to keep my eyes away from the entire chest area; however, this was such an oddity and so extremely visible and attention drawing it was really hard to not notice.

I guess the point of my story is that if you really feel bad about yourself. Maybe you have gotten a little heavy, as in my case, or maybe you are just having a bad day. Stop by your local convienence store and take a gander. Life could be much, much worse.

Have a good weekend!

Whoever is doing the raindance-----can you give it a break already?

Another rainy day here in central Iowa. Here in Perry we aren't in too bad of shape it is just wet and the grass is long because we don't get a chance to cut it. To the north is where the flooding is the worst.

The first day of school went as well as it could have. All of the new system we put in place over ths summer seem to be working well. There were a few minor issues but nothing that we couldn't take care of in a few minutes and it was mostly just little configuration adjustments. When you put in as many new systems as we did this summer, the first time they are used could be a bad thing but it appears we did a good job of getting things ready to go so, yeah us!

The kids had a good first day. Drew is glad to get back into the routine. I think he missed seeing all his friends all the time so he is happy. Jess has some real witches in her class that she got to spend some time with yesterday so it was up and down for her. Girls can be the biggest snot bags.

It is the last day of golf league. I think it may get rained out and that is ok. I really could care less one way or another. I will be fine with playing if the weather is good and just as fine not going and calling it a season if the weather is bad.

I actually feel so much better now that school has started. The week before, the teachers have nothing to do but bother the tech department for stupid little things. ("I want access to MySpace because I keep in touch with college classmates through it and I don't have the Internet at home.") ("I want to get to Ebay so I can "buy stuff for my classroom" )(whatever!)"

Most of the requests are ridiculous and they get upset when I say NO! Once the kids are back they are too busy to bother me with the little stuff. Well, at least the requests are not as frequent.

By the way, the stupidity of people is no longer a suprise to me. I honestly wonder how some people find their way home at night. I should make a list of all the stupid things people do and post it here sometime. I honestly think my IQ drops just by spending time with some of them.

On your marks.....Get set........Start school!!!!!!!!!

Well, it is the first day of school today. The kids have their clothes all layed out and should be ready to start their day. They are a bit excited but say they don't want to go back. I think the summer gets to be a bit long so they are happy to get back to a routine.

I had insomnia last night for no apparent reason. I went to sleep about 10:30 was up at 1 and stayed up until 4. I was able to sleep from 4 to 5 but it still really stinks!

I have a couple of training sessions today. I have some new teachers at 1 and then powerschool training for the staff who weren't here this summer at 2:30. I will spend most of the morning trying to get ready. I have handouts to print, accounts to create and I have to create an agenda. Yes Mom, I still am a procrastinator. Nothing like waiting until the last minute to get ready to teach a class.

I think I will cut the grass tonight if the weather holds up. It may be raining but if it isn't I need to get it cut. It is growing fast lately.

I am in a bit of a rush this morning so the post is short.

More tomorrow.

What the hell is that smell?

So there is a smell in my garage and I am not sure what it is. I thought maybe something died in there but I looked and can't seem to find it. I have my garbage in there so it could be that but I can't imagine anything that I would have eaten, smelling like that.

We are getting a bunch of rain here in Iowa. Not so much where we live but up north a bit. There is a town up there that got 5 inches last night. They have had rain for a few days and that 5 inches seemed to push everything over the edge. Houses are flooding.

The other day a guy in town decided that he was gonna kill himself so he had a gun and was waving it around all crazy like. Our school resource office was on duty so was called to the scene. He arrived and the guy came out and was waving the gun around. He was about to kill himself when the office shot him. Well he died. The office was put on administrative leave and they waited for the autopsy. The office is a friend of mine. We coached basketball together last year and he works at the school so I know him pretty well. He is a good guy and I am sure he is going through a lot right now. He has a son in Drew's class.

The autopsy came back and showed the officers bullet did not kill him, it was a self inflicted shot that killed the guy. I was happy to hear it but it is one of those wierd things that happen. It seems like we have a bunch of wierd things happping here.

So I was watching "Last Comic Standing" the other day and one of the comedians was referring to immigration and said "They want to keep all the illegals out and they are going to build a wall to keep them out..........Who do they think is going to build the wall?". It cracked me up so I thought I would share it.

I had a dream the other night that dad bought a hot air balloon and was using it as his mode of trasportation. I need to go somewhere and he said "Hop in the balloon, I'll take you there." I told him I didn't want to ride in the stupid balloon because it is slow and you couldn't possible control where it goes, with the wind and all. He ended up talking me into it and away we went at like 2 mph. I was ticked off the whole time beause I was going to be late and we are just floating along........ It was a funny dream and I have no idea where the whole hot air balloon - dad connection came from. Wierd what the mind comes up with.

Have a good day today!

Whatever happened to acid rain?

It was a weekend full of office work. I wasn't really planning on spending so much time in the office but it ended up being pretty much two full days. The main thrust of the work I wanted to get done on Saturday so I would have to work only a few hours on Sunday. Well, there was a problem with our student information system and it took me until about 3 yesterday to get it figured out and get it all fixed. Nancy brought in brownies so life was pretty good.

School starts on Wednesday. The kids say they are dreading it but I think they are ready to go back. They have their school supplies and some new clothes and are all good to go for the first day. Drew should start football practice almost right away so he will get busy quick. Tuesday we have a Middle School orientation that he has to go to. I am a presentor so I wont be able to be with him. He can either go with his mom or I he can hang out with me and then go the the his home room, when it is time, so he can get his locker and his lock.

Much to do again this week. Time is really flying. I don't really mind working the weekends so much but it seems to be the worst on Monday. It is kind of like having a hangover. You feel like you should be getting close to the weekend and you have only started your week. Oh well, the end is in sight and it will only be one more weekend, at the most for awhile. We should have all of the systems necessary for classes to run, ready to go by the end of today.

Jess played in a volleyball tournament Saturday. She said she did pretty well. Dawn says she is really hitting the ball hard and spiking well. I think they have a game in a couple of weeks so I should be able to see her then. She is babysitting today from 7 - 2:30 or so and then off to practice at 3:30.

I have to say, my morning coffee really helps me get through the day. I have fallen into a bit of a routine as of late and my morning coffee is an essential component. I have really been wanting to start exercising again but I am finding it hard to find any part of my day that I have the gumption to get moving. Morning are terrible lately and evening I am so tired I don't feel like going for a run. Quite the dilemma! Maybe once my work life slows down a bit I will have more energy to fit it in.

Tomorrow I will share how I am coming to terms with Drew being and Iowa footbal fan.
