Lucky Friday the 13th

Golf was a mixed bag last night. The weather was great, the beer was cold but our game was poor. I shot my handicap so that was ok but my partner shot one of the worst rounds he has had in years. He did get new glasses this week, bi-focals so I think that may have had something to do with his poor play. I don't really care if we win or lose it is fun to just get out and be social.

Drew is going fishing with his grandpa today. They are up early and are heading out at 6 am today. Drew is looking forward to it since he hasn't had a chance to do any fishing this year. He told me he is going to catch me a BIG O'L FISH!

Jess has a game tonight. It is the last home game and the last regular season game of the year. They play their first round of regionals on Wednesday so the season could be over that day. Their chances are 50-50.

I asked the kids if they would go to the Harry Potter movie with me this weekend and they said "Only if we go to Des Moines!". They don't want to go to the movie with me here in town. It is expensive to go to the movie in Des Moines so I may end up going alone. They told me that they feel guilty about not going with me but it really doesn't matter to me. I don't mind going by myself. My guess is they will want to go but sit with their friends. That would be fine with me as well.

I bought a Stephen King book about a month ago and just really started reading it in the last week or so. Anyway, it is a collection of short stories and one of the is 1408. The one they made the movie about. So far the story is really good and the main character hasn't even entered the room yet. By the way since it is Friday the 13th, if you add the numbers of 1408 it equals 13. The room also happens to be on the 13th floor of the hotel (which they label as the 14th floor, there is no 13th floor button in the elevator.

Ok, off to start my weekend. Have a great one!

Golf, Garbage, Goose and Good Weather

Today is Thursday. Not a siginificant day of the week for most people but for me it is a big day. Thursday is TRASH DAY! Whoo-hooo! Not only that but I golf on Thursday so I know I will be leaving work early and drinking a little beer! Whooo-hooo!

The weather is great, in the low 80's with sunshine and low humidity! Whooo-hooo!

All in all it should be a pretty good day (I am knocking on wood as I type this).

The goose had a game last night. Not sure what happened I haven't talked to her yet. The last two days, I have only seen the goose for about two minutes in the morning before I leave. She has a day off without a game tonight but I golf so I will see her a bit after I get home.

Drew has weight lifting today. He hasn't been able to go for a week so it should be good for him to get back in the swing of it.

There seems to be a hundred projects going on at work. I am not sure how I will get everything done but somehow it always works out in the end. Here is the sucky part - Nancy and I will be working every weekend for the rest of the month (No Whooo-hooo here.)

The new Harry Potter movie came out yesterday so I am going to try to talk the kids into going with me this weekend.

A friend of mine at work game me a samon and I cooked it on the grill last night. Drew and I really enjoyed it. I have the other half still to cook. Salmon is a "BIG O'L FISH!!!!!!"

I will let you know how golf went in my post tomorrow.

Sunny Sky, Cool Breeze,No Humidity,Why am I Grouchy?

My review went well yesterday. It was actually quite good. Doesn't pay any better but it is nice to get appreciated once in awhile.

The weather outside is wonderful. The high is going to be 82 and the humidity is gone! I am going to try to talk Nancy into breaking out the convertible soon.

Drew went to the Wellness thing yesterday and he was not impressed. The other people that went were goober kids and he didn't really have anybody to hang out with. He did get some cool gifts but he said he didn't want to do that again.

Jess had a game last night. I did not attend and went to bed before she got home. I am not sure how they did or if she got to play but I will wake her up before I leave today and find out. She has basketball practice this morning.

Drew and I had chef salads for dinner last night. It was pretty good. I didn't have croutons, which I think is necessary for a good chef salad, but it did the trick. It was his idea and we had chicken and ham in the fridge so it was an easy meal to fix. I have had the hankerin for fried chicken lately.

I met with a lady in charge of our alumni group yesterday. She has grand ideas for putting information on our website to include: a database for demographic information, obituaries, donation page, on and on and on. All in all it probably is a good thing but it ends up being more work for me. Not complaining but at times it feels that all these little things pile up and I have time for nothing anymore. Kind of like grains of sand piling on a scale, eventualy all those little grains add up to a hefty weight. Such is life!

Yah, the more I think about it, the more I need the convertible to come out and get me the hell out of here for awhile.

FYI - Raspberry Vodka and lemonade is a wonderful summer cocktail.

Evaluation Schmaluation

I get my annual evaluation today. Whoo-hoo! Once every couple of years my boss gives me a formal evaluation. It has always gone well in the past and I imagine it will be fine again this year. It has no impact on my pay raise or any other type of compensation. These evaluations are mostly for show.

The kids and I had pizza last night for dinner. It was pretty good but the price has little to be desired. For a large pizza and a cheese sticks it was $25.

Drew is going to a wellness convention today. He was nominated and selected to be a school student representative in a state wide wellness convention for schools. I am not sure he really understands what the heck it is or why he is going but I told him it would be a good experience for him so he said he would go. He leaves at 7 this morning.

Jess has a game tonight. It is away and there is only three games left before the regional game. The season is getting long at this point and I will be glad when it is over. I think she will be too.

Work is going like the normal summer work always goes. Too much to do and too little time. What can ya do? Just keep chipping away like always and things tend to work themselves out.

School is back in session in a little over a month. What a sucky thought that is.

Check out the school website. I put a summer flair on it yesterday. I also put a picture from California on it. Here is the link: http://www.perry.k12.ia.us/

I think Mondays hates me but the feeling is mutual

Another Monday...Augh! I have a lot to do at work and a whole week ahead to do it. Whooo-hoooo!

It was a pretty good weekend. Drew and I had some father-son time. We went and got hair cuts, got some flip flops for him, went to home depot and ate lunch. The weather has been very hot and humid but that has become the theme for this summer. I do see that there seems to be a break coming in the next week.

Jess had a softball tournament this weekend. They won 2 and lost 1. It was kind of a wierd week because of the 4th being on a Wednesday. I felt like Thursday of last week was Monday and my internal clock was all messed up. This week it gets back to normal.

As I type this I am hearing thunder outside. I hope to get it posted before a power outage occurs. It I don't I guess you all will be none the wiser. haha.

The rest of the month is going to move pretty quickly. There is only a week and a half of softball left and then the kids go on a trip with Dawn and her parents. They are going to Niagra Falls so the kids should have a fun time. It is good for them to get a break after a busy summer.

Uh-ho the satelite just went dark so I am thinking there is a big thunder cloud close.

Dawn is going somewhere go a retirement party and staying overnight. I forget where it is, maybe Marshalltown or somewhere like that. Anyway the kids and I will maybe order a pizza and watch wrestling. (You can take the boy out of the trailer park but you can't take the trailer park out of the boy!) People would not imagine I like watching WWE wrestling.

Anyway what a way to spend an evening. Pizza and wrestling.

Have a great day.
