Everybody knows Fridays Rock!

We look forward to it all week and it is finally here....FRIDAY! It has been a carbon copy week. The weather has been great all week and each day is the same as the last. Sunny, warm and beautiful by evening time. With all the crappy weather we had early this spring, I really appreciate this nice weather.

Jess had a game last night and they won 2-1. It was a good game. Jess got walked and then hit a line drive to the short stop and was out on first. The walk was a pretty good at bat because she started off 0-2 and had to battle to get the walk. She still has only one strike out on the year. She also has 6 stolen bases this year so far.

Drew had weight lifting yesterday and he said it was hard. His arms were sore last night. They aren't really having them lift much it is mostly isometric stuff, push-ups, leg lifts, etc. It is good for him and the rest of the boys.

Both kids have games tonight. Jess plays away and Drew has a home game. I umpire so that should be a blast. It is the last game of his I will see. He has one more game that was supposed to be played this sunday but they moved it to next sunday and I will be in California.

Golf went suprisingly well last night. I shot a 43 which is good for me but it should have been much better. I had pars on holes 1,2,3,4,5,8. The other three holes 6,7 and 9 I dropped 7 strokes. I was 4 over par on 6(out of bounds..DANG IT!!!!!), 2 over par on 7 and 1 over on 9. I wonder if the beer had anything to do with it?

It is going to be a good weekend. There are no games at all so we have a whole weekend just to hang out. I will get the yard work done tomorrow and Sunday, Fathers Day, I think the kids want to go out to eat. Jess does have a basketball game Sunday night out of town but that is ok.

Have a great weekend.

Horse shoes, hand grenades and Thursday

It isn't Friday yet but the weather is nice, I play golf tonight and that is close enough.

Jess had a game last night. They lost 9-3. She did have a single and made a double play. The team had some errors and the opponent was hitting like crazy. They hit three or four home runs on us. Jess had three at bats and got a hit and was fielded out twice. She has only struck out once in 5 games so her bat is getting around.

Drew was not able to go to the game last night because he had a late practice. He said only 7 boys showed up so he was rather disgusted he had to stay home. He has weight lifing this morning and then an early practice. It will be good for him to be done early today.

Jess has a game tonight so Drew should be able to go. I am going to golf and then depending on what time it is, I may go to the game. I am not sure if they are broadcasting it on the radio but if they are, I can listen to it with an ear piece.

FYI - If you like chocolate chip cookies. Caseys has the best! It is the big one by the register. There should be a warning on the package -----"MAY CAUSE ADDITION!!!!" I figure the cookies must really be good or I have very little to write about today.

Have a great day!

If Wednesday was a sandwich I think it would be Bologna

It is going to be a warm Wednesday but you may want to stay off the roads. Jessica drives in drivers ed today!

Actually, she does a fine job driving and I am sure she will do well today. Speaking of Jess, she has another full day today. Drivers ed class this morning, Basketball practice after that, she drives for drivers ed this afternoon and then it is off to the softball game. At least she doesn't have time to get into any trouble....lol

Drew on the other hand is spending his summertime playing with the kids in the neighborhood. He has one or two baseball games left and he is free for the summer. I told him he could take guitar lessons once baseball was done. I will see if he still wants to do that.

I dropped both kids off at the pool yesterday. They had a good time. It is nice to get out and go swimming with their friends. I have memories of my summers being spent at the pool. Seems like a lifetime ago.

Yesterday I heard the rapist was still on the loose and had attacked another woman. I have not heard for sure but that is very troubling. It is hard for me to believe that they have not caught this guy yet. I know alot of the high school aged girls are starting to carry mace.

I am looking forward to the weekend ahead. The kids really don't have any plans and we don't even have any ball games. It should be a chance for me to spend some time with them both. Maybe I will take them to the pool or out to eat. Life seems so rushed these days, I don't get a chance to just hang out with them anymore. Maybe this weekend it will work out. My guess is Drew will be invited to someone's house or to the movie. He is always hanging out with friends. Time will tell.

Not a big fan of Tuesday either!

It looks like we are going into a hot, humid spell. The rest of the week appears to be sunny, warm, humid and relatively unpleasant. I guess it is better than the endless days of rain we have had so far this year. At least the sun make people smile.

The girls lost their softball game last night. Jess had an error but it didn't change the outcome of the game. The team they played was ranked and looked really good. Our girls didn't look that good and our pitching was a bit off. They play again Wednesday at home.

Drew had a good practice last night. He loves it when there is a home game because he and his friends can run around the ball park and play. The baseball - softball complex in town is a nice place for kids to run around and play. He starts weight lifting today. He goes Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer. I think he is really looking forward to it.

I made it through all of the meetings yesterday and only have one today. It is that time of the year where we have a new fiscal year approaching so I have every vendor on the planet trying to meet with me to discuss "my needs". Blah, blah, blah. It is a necessary evil because I do have things I need to purchase this summer and unfortunately I have to deal with salespeople to get the best deals.

The kids want to go to the pool today so I think I will drop them off. Jess has drivers ed, softball practice and then volleyball practice but should be done by early afternoon so they can go to the pool for awhile. They both have been looking forward to it since the weather got warm and I promised I would take them. Time to break out the sun screen.

It is summer but Monday's still suck!

The first full week of summer break is hear. It is going to be busy so I am not really looking forward to it. I have three meetings and present to the school board tonight. The weather is supposed to be nice so that is a plus.

Drew had a game last night and did well. They won 11-2 and he was walked twice and had a single. He actually hit it deep into the outfield but didn't have the footspeed to get a double.

Jessica had a big weekend. The HS team played in a softball tournament this weekend and it was against city schools. Ankeny (Who won state last year), Ubandale, Newton and some other school. They were all 4A schools so we weren't sure how we would do. In the first game, the girl who was playing first base ahead of Jessica made 5 errors and cost them the game. Jessica became the starter in the next game and played great. In her first game she hit a double and had two singles with three runs batted in. The second game she had 3 singles and 2 RBI's. They won both games. In the third game she had 2 singles and was fielded out twice. They were tied 2-2 at the bottom of the last inning. We had one girl on third and 2 outs. Jessica was up to bat. If she gets a hit we win, if she strikes out or gets fielded out, we tie and have to go extra inning. The first pitch she blasts the ball between the pitcher and shortstop for an easy single to win the game. This was against the team that won state last year.

She had a great weekend. She was up to bat 10 times, got on base 8 times, was fielded out twice and drove in 6 runs. She has yet to strike out or get walked. She also did not have any errors. We were at Drew's game last night and had parents come up to us and say they heard about how well Jess did this weekend.

She has a game tonight. Drew has a game on Friday. Her schedule today is Drivers Ed at 7 am, basketball practice 9-11, wieght lifting 11-12:30 and then down to the park at 4:30 for her game. Drew has practice down at the complex at 5:30 so it is nice that everything is in the same place so he can walk over from practice to her game. Ahhh - the relaxation of summertime.

On the academic front. Drew made honor roll and Jess got a 4.0.

Little Molly is a spaz. She is still having the occassional accident but I think we are starting to get her into a routine. I hope to have her potty trained soon.
