I think its time to slow down and smell the flowers

Last night was a late night. The girls played a double header in Nevada and it is about an hour drive from here. I didn't get home until after 10:30. They lost both games but Jess had good games. In the second game she got on base all three times at bat. She had two hits and the third time she hit it deep and the outfielder dropped so it was an error but she still got on.

Our starting catcher is a senior and she got hurt last night. They thought she broke her ankle but it turned out to be a bad sprain. She will be out for two weeks which is almost the end of the season.

They play in a tournament today and tomorrow in Ames.

Today is my last post before the California trip. I am really looking forward to going, it is going to be very nice to get away for awhile.

Today I have my evaluation. I meet with the superintendent this morning. It should be good. I guess I will see a bit later.

While I am in California I am going to try to post to the blog a few times. If I don't get a chance to do that, I will be back to the normal posting on the 30th. I hope to have a bunch of pictures to post.

Off to start my Friday.

I wonder who thought black liquorice was a good idea

We have had a pretty good streak of good weather and I hope it last. It has been warm, sunny and dry. I couldn't ask for better weather and I think I appreciate it so much more because of the terrible weather we have had for so long. This is a needed break.

Jess had a game last night and they lost 10-0. She actually had a pretty good game. She got a nice slap hit and beat out the throw to first. While she was playing first, she said the other teams first base coach kept talking to her about track. She remembered Jess from track and said some very nice things to her. Jess said the coach was chatting her up through the whole first inning.

Drew has been going to weight lifting, basketball and baseball practice all week. It is good for him to keep busy. There aren't any kids in the neighborhood anymore for him to play with so it is good he has activities. I think his first all-star game is July 1.

Just a few more days until I head to sunny California. We leave Sunday morning bright and early. I hate flying but I am looking forward to the trip.

Today Jess plays in Nevada tonight, pronounce with a hard A between the v and the d. Not like the state. Anyway it is a varsity double header so it will be a late night. Well, at least late for me. I tend to go to bed early.

The bugs are starting to get bad outside. I am not a big fan of that. Time to break out the bug spray.

Trash day so the ladies should be out and about.

Off to start the day.

What the hell was I thinking

It seems like there is a lot of things to do before I leave for California on Sunday. There is a bunch to do at work and I seem to get myself into a bunch of other little committments that I really don't have time for.

I am taking an online class on how to teach online courses. It is free and it is something that I should learn but it takes time to go through the lessons and submit homework, etc. I really don't have time but I will figure out a way to fit it in.

I also agreed to do some consultation work for Urbandale school district. They want some help with a few technology things and I said I would do it. I have no idea when I am going to go up and do that but they want to do it this week. I am not sure I am going to be able to get away.

Jess has a game here in Perry tonight, she plays a double header on Thursday in Nevada and then Friday they have a tournament in Ames that goes through Saturday. I leave for California on Sunday at a very early hour.

Drew has a birthday party on Saturday. They are going to a Iowa Barnstormers game. It is the indoor football league. Then they are going on a campout. He is excited.

The Boston Celtics finished off the Lakers last night and are this years NBA champs.

Not much else. More tomorrow.

The only constant in life is change....Well, I don't have to like it.

The weather is wonderful right now. The last few days have been good and it looks like it is going to be nice for the rest of the week. This is very good news to me because on Sunday, I leave for California.

If you are a dedicated blog reader, you probably noticed I didn't post yesterday. I simply forgot. How weird is that? I was watching a Microsoft video on the new Windows 2008 server and its security changes and I just forgot to do the blog. As a matter of fact, I didn't even remember until later in the morning when Nancy asked why I didn't post. Maybe I am losing it!

Here is the update from the weekend. Drew played in a tournament of champions baseball game and they got pounded 14-3. They play All-Stars sometime in the upcoming weeks.

Jess played in a softball tournament in Ft. Dodge. They lost three and won one. They also played last night and lost to Winterset 8-0. Despite the score they are getting better. Winterset beat them 13-0 last time and it was the ten run rule. At least this time they played the whole game. Small victories at this point.

Today we have a luncheon for a retiring secretary. I am rather indifferent about it.

No activities tonight.

So I go to a bunch of different communities to watch the kids play sports and for the most part, I check out these towns and can see why people live there. Usually, there is a nice view or it is a good location or it is a nice clean town, ect. Winterset is the exception to that rule. I am not sure why but everytime I go to that town, I wonder why people live there. I have nothing against Winterset but it just seems kind of dirty and there really isn't anything there. Maybe I am missing something but I have been there probably 10 times and feel that way every time.

Yeah, Yeah, Bridges of Madison county and all but other than that, I think the place is lame.

OK, off to start the day.
