At least no one got shot

Track meet went well last night. Jess got 1st in the long jump, 1st in the 400, 1st in the sprint med and 2nd in the 4x800.

It was cloudy and breezy and the track was in bad shape but overall not a bad night. The meet was in the worst part of Des Moines. Barb wire fence around the track. Security guards all over, it was not a comfortable place to be.

Drew ran the 100 in his track meet and ended up beating someone. I think he will have to work on distance running if he wants to be a runner.

Finally Friday and it is going to be cloudy and cool but no rain.

Jess has a track meet tonight in Huxley and Drew has a baseball game here in Perry.

Prom is tomorrow and the kids are all excited.

Off to start.

I think I woke up in London

Foggy today....more sucky weather. Not sure if it will rain or not.

My last Wednesday class lasted longer than I anticipated. It went until 9:30 and I was figuring we would be out by 8:30. The teams worked hard and did a nice job, they just took forever. Oh well, it is done. Only one more class and I am done teaching for the semester.

Both kids have events tonight but depending on the weather we will see what happens. Jess has a track meet at Des Moines East. It starts at 4:15 so it will be an early night. Drew has a baseball game, I think here but I am not sure. He was in bed when I got home last night.

The high school had 15 girls dress up in their prom dresses and go to the nursing home for a little prom fashion show. Jess was one of the girls and Nancy went with her to help lace up her dress. I think they had fun.

Nothing on the agenda for today. I have some office work to do.

I hope the weather is good this weekend, I need to mow.

Ok, off to start.

Highs and Lows while the weather still sucks

Yesterday was not as nice as they said it would be it was pretty chilly and no sun. Bastards!

Drew played 1st base, short stop and left field for his team last night and had one hit and stuck out once. They lost 15-3. It will be a long season.

He had fun at his TSA competition. He got to stay in a hotel room with one of his buddies so that was a big deal. They all had a good time. I don't think they faired that well but the point was to have fun mostly.

Jess had a track meet last night. She broke the meet record in the 400 with a time of 59.75 which she was dissapointed with. She threw up after the race and just isn't feeling good. She is frustrated her times aren't dropping.

It was maybe her worst meet in two years medal wise. She got 3rd in the long jump. She only jumped 15'2 so she was ticked about that. Then a decent 400 time and a gold. She also got a gold medal in the 800 but her time was average. The sprint med team got 2nd. They were without one of their runners and it really hurt them. By the time Jess got the baton she was way behind. She got them to second but didn't have a great time for her leg.

I think the weather is just killing everyone. The clouds are depressing, it is cold, or windy and it just sucks.

Drew has track and baseball practice tonight, Jess just has track practice. No events tonight. I teach my last Wednesday night class - whoo-hooo! That will be great to have behind me.

Busy day today at work but the rest of the week is open.

Off to start

Big Rain - Low Morale

We have had big rain here over the weekend and into yesterday. Flooding is going on around the state and it is just crappy. Today will be the exception. Sun and in the low 60's.

Jess has a track meet and Drew has a baseball game so I hope the wind isn't an issue. We haven't had many sunny days lately without a big ol wind messing it up.

Drew went to the state TSA competition in Des Moines yesterday. They are staying overnight at the Adventureland hotel so it is a big time for him. I think he was pretty excited.

I told him to text message me and let me know how he did but I got nothing. He will be back around 3 today so I will find out then.

Jess runs at Adel tonight. There are 11 teams at this meet so it should be pretty good. I hope she runs well. She worked out over the weekend, even though it was crappy.

Last night was test night for my class. I think they all did ok but I haven't graded anything yet. Only one more Wednesday night class and one more Monday night class and I am done!! Whoo-hoo!!

Molly and I have started exercising in the morning. We started Saturday and have been going every morning. We walk/jog for 30 minutes. It has been pretty good so far but I wish the weather would get better.

The week ahead is busy. Jess has track tonight, Thursday and Friday. Drew has baseball tonight and Thursday and I think a track meet Friday. I haven't looked ahead to the weekend yet so I am not sure what is going on. Well, Prom is Saturday so that is a big day for the goose.

Oh, gay marriage started here in Iowa yesterday.

Ok, off to start.
