I am living the exact replica of my life

Friday!

My week of meetings is about over. I have two more today but I don't think they will be a big deal. It is kind of odd lately. I have had work to do and people ask me if I have had a chance to work on things but I just haven't been in my office enough to really get things done like normal.

I hope this is just a blip and not a trend of things to come.

Drew had his potluck for basketball last night. It was OK. The food was pretty good and it didn't last that long.

He is in TSA (Technology Skills Association) I think that is what it stands for. Anyway, he is competing next week in Winterset and has built a aerodynamic plane that he is supposed use this sling-shot thing and shoot it in the air. It is supposed to stay in the air a long time. He said it requires a lot of sanding.

Jess has the sweetheart dance tonight and then a volleyball tournament Sunday in Bonduraunt.

I need Spring to get here. I need to feel the warm air, cook on a grill and drink a little beer.

I think we are supposed to get a little snow tonight.

This is my last free weekend. Next week I start teaching the Friday/Saturday class. I will be teaching Monday and Wednesday nights from 6-10, Friday from 5-9 and Saturday from 9-2:30. It isn't the instruction that has me worried, but it is a concern, but more the grading of assignments. There is a lot of homework and it takes time to grade. I will have 32 total students with 17 hours of instruction each week.

The good thing is the weekend class only lasts until April 2nd. I may be grumpy the month of March.

Ok, off to start the day.

I'm not really sure what "prevailing wage" is, but is seems to be a big deal

The basketball season is over and it ended in a most fitting way. The worst game of the year, our team, saved for the finale. We had 10 points at halftime and that was only 4 baskets made. We had 2 - three pointers and two regular baskets.

The game ended and I think we had 39 points. Jess only had 2 and she fouled out.

I have never seen a team get worse as the year went along but this one did. The coach told the girls in the locker room after the game that he may not be back next year. He thinks it may be time to retire from coaching. I think it would be a good move.

The coach has been good to Jess but the program is in trouble, with only 14 girls out this year, it is very sad. Maybe they can get someone to re-energize the program.

Anyway, it is over.

I am in training all day today and have meetings most of the day tomorrow. UGH!!!!

Trash day and we all know how I feel about that. UGH!!!

Drew has his end of the season pot-luck for basketball tonight. I am supposed to bring a side dish....UGH!!!!

OK, time to snap out of my mood of disgust and disdain and get ready to start my day.

Welcome to the center of my universe

Class went well last night. I thought I was going to get out early but it ended up being after 9:30 before my last student left. I don't have to teach Wednesday so I really didn't care if I had to stay late.

I don't think I have anything on the agenda for today. My tech at the high school is gone this week so I have to deal with checking out the laptop cart today but that isn't a big deal.

We had our budget cut meeting yesterday and it didn't go well. Some people were willing to offer up some cuts to their departments or building and others just sat and said nothing. The conversation turned a bit ugly when two or three people weren't willing to offer anything up.

In the end the Superintendent is going to just give each department or building a dollar amount he wants them to cut and we will have to decide what we want to cut. I think this will be a bit more fair but it kind of ticks me off that a couple of our "managers" don't think they have anything they can cut. Give me a red pen and their staff list and I will be happy to do it for them!!!!!

I guess I will find out how much I need to cut within the next week or so.

Tomorrow I have a morning training session and a facility committee meeting at 5. Jess has her regional playoff game at 7 here in Perry against Nevada. We beat them both times we played them this year but they have improved and we seem to have gotten worse.

I think Jess has a volleyball tournament every weekend for the next few weeks. They are all in central Iowa so it won't be too bad. I think she plays in Bondurant Sunday.

Drew has been enjoying his time off in the evenings. He had a friend over for awhile last night. We will watch TV together tonight.

OK, off to start

Cold, Snow..yeah, yeah...blah, blah, blah

Weather - Winterlike!

The weekend was rather uneventful. Drew and I went out to dinner Saturday night. It was nice.

Jess played in a volleyball tournament in Minneapolis. She was contacted by a coach from North Dakota State University. They want her to play for them. He said she would play right side and play right away.

It isn't where she wants to go but it is at least an offer in volleyball from a bigger school.

They ended up being a number 1 seed for the tournament. They played well the first day and the morning of the second. They lost steam and lost the first match of the tournament. It is a continuing trend with this group. Play good in the preliminary rounds and stink it up in the actual tournament.

I have a couple meetings this morning. One is a budget cut meeting for next year. Not looking forward to that one.

I teach class tonight and that is pretty much it for the day. Jess has basketball and volleyball practice tonight.

Off to start.
