Snow! Give me a break!

Yesterday I was disgusted that we were having cold weather. Well it is getting worse. Saturday into Sunday up to 6 inches of snow. What the hell is that all about?

On the brighter side, the weather is going to be good today. 58 and sunny.

Yesterday was a full day. Nancy was telling me about an ad she saw in the paper. Ace Hardware had a Weber gas grill on sale $100 off. I went online checked the reviews for that model and they were all excellent. So at lunch, I went down and bought it. It is sitting on my back patio as I type.

One cool feature is that it has a holder for the gas tank that weighs it and says how full it is and shows when it is empty.

Jess had a track meet last night here in Perry. The weather was cold but we have had track meets in colder weather. It ended up getting a little warmer than projected so it was good that they got it in.

I worked as a timer so I was able to be down on the track and see the action right at the finish line.

Jess won the 400 with at time of 59.53, which was a meet record and a good time for this early in the year. She won the 800 with a time of 2:30. She probably could have run faster but was way out in front and didn't need to. She won the long jump with a jump of 15'2 which was pretty good but not her best. The relay team she anchored got 2nd. It was the 4x400 and they were way too far back from 1st for her to be able to catch up. She ran 61 seconds in her leg.

Drew had baseball practice last night. I am not sure if the team will be any good but he should play all the time. He is pretty excited about the grill.

One meeting this morning at 8. Then I teach for the last weekend of the term. It is going to be pretty easy. They are taking the final test tonight and doing a team project Saturday. I hope to get out early both days.

Stupid snow to look forward to this weekend. Ugh!

Off to start.

The places my mind takes me

This weather is really ticking me off!!! High of 39; are you kidding me!

Class went well last night. I got out around 9:20 so it was an early night for a change. The sessions are winding down and I am glad. The sessions are starting to grind on me. The weekend class ends this weekend and that will be a big help. Between working day and night and spending my free time grading papers, which I am still a long way from being caught up, it has been a load.

Jess is supposed to have a track meet today, here in Perry. We haven't had this track meet in a few years because the weather has always been too bad so they cancel it. This year will probably follow that trend. I think the high is only supposed to be 39 so it will be very cold for the kids to be running, especially when the sun goes down.

They have another meet tomorrow in Huxley. The weather is supposed to cooperate but I will have to miss it because I will be teaching.

Drew has his first baseball practice tonight. It is good to get the season started but this weather doesn't make me feel much like being outside watching sports.

I have been trying to think of a bright side to this god awful weather and I can only think of two.
- The cold weather will really make me appreciate the good weather. Sometimes it is good to get a reality check and appreciate the little things in life that are good. Beautiful weather is one of those things.
- The garbage bastards have to be out in this all day picking up trash. They may have been bastards in making life difficult for the residence of Perry, Iowa but they still have to be out in this crap picking up people trash. Eat that ladies!

Spring doesn't look like this in the movies

The weather is crap! We started this morning in the low 50's and it is going to get colder as the day goes on. I think it is going to be in the low 30's by lunchtime. Tomorrow we get another dose of cold.

Class went ok last night. They took two tests and they did poorly on the first one. It was a multiple choice test and the high score was a 68%. I am going to let them re-take it and then average the scores. I haven't graded the second test yet.

Both kids said they had a hard track practice last night. I think that is good. It does them well to exercise hard. Jess has track meets Thursday and Friday this week. The Thursday one is here in Perry but the weather isn't looking good so there is a chance it will get canceled. This would be the third time this meet has been canceled. Spring weather sucks!

One meeting today and then nothing on the agenda. I have a bunch of office work to do so having an open calendar is a good thing. Tomorrow, I go to a training session at 11 (it is only an hour) then I teach the office staff our new Office 2007 suite in the afternoon. Then off to DMACC. It will be a fully day.

Drew has his first baseball practice Thursday night. I was playing catch with him the other day and he has really gotten stronger. His throws were hurting my hand.

Jess have volleyball practice last night. I wonder how it went after the tournament debacle and the complaints from the parents. I won't really get a chance to talk to her until tonight.

Off to start.

Mutiny

Well the week is starting up again...ugh! Weather is going to be colder and windy. Not a good outlook for the rest of the week either.

The volleyball tournament was a bust. The girls didn't play well and the coach was kind of nuts. I am not sure what her deal was but she has some issues that haven't been displayed before. I think the parents are really upset. I am not sure what to think.

Anyway, over the weekend. Drew held down the fort while everyone was out and about. He did the dishes and kept the house in order. He is a very good kid. He has a summer job all worked out. He is going to cut the grass at Gene and Marsha's while they are in Alaska. It takes about 4 hours on the riding lawn mower but he gets $50 for it.

Jess had idle hands this weekend. Her boyfriend was at an FCA event and it was an overnight thing. She and a couple of her girl friends, seran wrapped his car. The did it after dark on Saturday night and as they were doing it, a cop pulled up. He told them "Nice job" and gave them some tips on how to get the wrap around the wheels.

I think this is going to be a busy week but we are on the down swing toward summer. It can't get here soon enough for me.

Nancy's birthday was yesterday. I had to call her from the volleyball tournament to go to the school and checkout some equipment. I made an appointment with a teacher and forgot. Once again, she pulled my ass out of the fire. I am not sure what I would do without her.

Ok, off to start.
