Isn't every Friday good?

Easter is Sunday and I have no plans. The kids haven't really said anything about it but I probably need to see about Easter baskets and maybe see if they want to color eggs. Yes, they are a little old to be coloring eggs but I like deviled eggs and it is kind of the Easter tradition in our house to use colored eggs.

Jess had a hard track practice yesterday. Girls were puking. Most of the kids that are stuggling with the hard workouts are the ones that didn't play a winter sport. They are just in poor condition and struggle. Jess is fine. She said she was tired but it wasn't that bad.

Drew will have his first baseball practice of the year on Monday. I hope the weather holds up so they can have it outside. The weather has been pretty good the last couple of days and the snow is almost completely gone. I need the sun to shine and a little breeze to blow so it can dry things up.

The Drake bulldogs take the court today in the NCCAA tournament. I am not sure if you have heard about them but Drake is a college in Des Moines and they have only lost 4 games all year and have been a very good team this year. They are a 5 seed and I am hoping they win. The team is a very good story. They were picked to finish last in their conferent this year and they kind of shocked the world. They are fun to watch. If you get the chance, they play at 11:30 central time.

On a side note, Drew has gone to the Drake basketball camp the last two summers and the players are the coaches for the camps so he has met all of these players and has their autographs. Kind of a cool thing for him to watch them play.

I have been so disgusted with the city lately that I am thinking about running for Mayor. I am not sure if I would win but I think a bunch of people know me. The current Mayor is not popular so I think I would have a shot. Nancy doesn't want me to run, she thinks I already have too busy of a schedule and doesn't think I would like people egging my house. (Do people really do that?) I have a year or two to think about it.

I think this is the first Friday in recent memory that I am kind of sad it is Friday. Spring break is coming to an end and it really sucks. Nancy and I have gotten a lot of work done, it has been quiet and very enjoyable. I am going to really be looking forward to summer.

Life goes on. Have a great weekend.

May the wings of liberty never lose a feather.

I had a migraine last night and went to bed at 7:30. It was misery on earth! I tried to sleep but kept waking up with sharp pains shooting through my brain. Man-O-Man was that miserable. I took a couple Excedrine Migraine pills - didn't work. A few hours later, I took more Excedrine Migraine and a couple Comtrex deep cough cold medicine. I am not sure at what point my headache went away but it was after 2 am.

This morning I feel ok but I am afraid the pain will return. I can't even think about having a headache like that again today.

On the bright side, my calf is getting much better. It was nice last night so I went outside with the kids and we shot baskets and played 4 square. I still can't jump but I can move around a lot better. I am hoping by the end of the week I can take Molly for a walk.

It is Thursday already and I have been thinking it is Wednesday. Where did the week go? This Spring break week has flown by and I am getting a bit sad that it is coming to an end. The good news is, Spring break goes through Monday. That makes next week a short week. woo-hooo!

I have to go to the administration center this morning and meet with the Superintendent. Not a big deal just a scheduled meeting. Nancy and I also need to work on the computers in that building so it will be nice to get that done.

I have to admit that this break has been very productive. I hope the rest of the week is the same way.

In the past, I used to think that once we had Spring break the rest of the school year was downhill. It had seemed that everyone was just waiting to get to the summer break. The last few years it really hasn't been that way. It has been busy pretty much to mid May.

Nancy and I have decided that we are going to work on losing some weight after the break. The weather is starting to turn and it is time to drop some pounds so I am not embarrassed to wear a t-shirt. Once my calf is better it will be easier because I can exercise. Molly and I need to work our way up to going for runs. We will start with walks and go from there.

Trash day today. I am refraining from going into a rant about our local government being completely out of touch with reality and what is going on in our community. I am at an all time high with disgust of the politicians. From the local city government to the idiots at the federal level, I could not be more dissapointed in the blatant disregard for common sense and ethical behavior.

Did I say I was refraining from that?

Have a good day!

HEY INTERNET!!!! Does anyone want to give me a beach house?

It is already Wednesday of Spring break. The week is moving along quickly but I am really enjoying my days. The work days are productive and quiet. I replaced our web server yesterday and we updated a computer lab. It was a good day and it is nice to chip away at some of the stuff that has been nagging us. I really could use a second week to get it all done.

The kids are enjoying their week off. Drew stayed overnight at a friends house and Jess is on a cleaning frenzy. I think she is a bit bored and with her high energy level, she just can't sit still. A clean house is a good thing.

I think I may go to Ames today. I need to get some errands done and the weather looks like it is going to coorperate. Jess needs the car today to pick up Drew and she has lunch plans so I am going to see if Nancy will let us take her car to Ames. I need to get Jess' car fixed and ready to roll before summer or we are going to have all kinds of conflict.

I wish the weather would be more cooperative this week. It has been cloudy and rainy which is rather depressing. Today seems to be the best day of the week and it isn't going to be great just a little warmer. I guess it is weeks like this that really makes you appreciate the good weather when it comes.

I hope everyone is having a great week.

I have lost my interest in being productive, I think the FED had somthing to do with it.

Even though this week is great because of Spring break. The weather sucks and yesterday was a late night.

We have fog and rain projected throughout the week. It really stinks! It is rough enough to have so many people off at exotic locations, enjoying the warmth of the sun but to have mother nature stick it too us here as well is just a kick in the crotch. Whatever.

Jess had her first track meet of the year last night. They ran at the indoor track at Iowa State. The track meet is just a girls meet but it is schools from all across the state. It is all classes so there are Des Moines schools as well as little schools. It is as close to the state track meet that we will run in until state.

Jess ran the 800 for the first time. She was freaked out because they put her in the fastest heat against a bunch of state title holders. Her heat was lining up and they were announcing all the girls in the heat that were state qualifiers or state champions. She had never run it before so she thought she would get blown out.

She ran a good race and out of 99 girls she ended up 8th. She is 4 seconds off the school record and really looked strong. One of the coaches told me they think she can win state in the 800 this year. We'll see.

She also ran the 4x400 and was the anchor leg. She ran it in 63 seconds which isn't a good time for her but it was 2 seconds faster than she ran it at this meet last year.

It is good to get the meet over and under her belt. I think she felt pretty good about her races and has a good attitude.

I didn't get home until 10 last night and didn't get to bed until close to 11. I am paying the piper this morning and going to drink an extra cup of coffee. The good news is, I have no evening plans the rest of the week.

If you are reading this an NOT wearing green, pinch yourself for me.

Happy St. Patricks Day!

Today is kind of a mixed bag. It is MONDAY, which I hate, but it is Spring break as well, which I love. This has been a very hectic year so far and the last week was a real suckfest. Friday didn't go slow as I had hoped but this week should make up for all of that. I have a vendor in today but nobody else scheduled the rest of the week.

There are a few things I have to take care of this week but I am going to make a point to make this a slow down week. Nancy and I deserve a little break and we are going to take it this week.

Some good news: I HAVE A TENANT!!!!!!

This weekend I showed the house to a lady and her daughter who wanted to rent it. Yesterday I showed it to her boyfriend and they called last night and said they want to move in. They will sign a year lease and may want to live there longer. They asked if they would be able to stay after a year and I told them, they could stay as long as they want. We can just do a year to year lease.

I may have to fix a garage door for them but other than that it should be good to go. They want to move in and live there April 1st but wanted to move stuff in earlier. I told them we would prorate the time they wanted to move stuff in. The normal daily rent price is $21. I told them we could go $10 a day from when they wanted to move stuff in until April 1. The only reason I am charging them at all for those days is the utility bill are still going to me in my name until April 1 and if they turn up the heat or have the doors open a bunch for moving stuff in, it will increase my expenses. I just wanted to cover that potential expense.

They were fine with all of that and it looks like they plan to start moving in next weekend.

That is one worry off my back, at least for a year. It is kind of cool because I know the family. I coached their daughter in softball and she is in the same grade as Jess.

Speaking of Jess. She has her first track meet of the year today. It is at Iowa State and it starts at 4. She won't run until 6 or later so I am going to head up there around 5:30 or 6. She has another meet next Tuesday at UNI and it is two hours away. I am not going to that one.

Indoor meets are hard to watch because you are on the floor and it is really hard to see anything. I am going today just to give Jess some support. She is running the 800 today so we will see how that goes.

Drew has the week off from practice but starts up next Monday. They only have 12 players in his league so the team is already the league champ and all of the players are on the all-star team. They will play the normal season then the tournament of champions and then the all-star tournament.

I went and worked on Jess' car yesterday. The battery is dead and it wouldn't charge with just a jump so Dawn's dad has it on a charger overnight and I will go back out Tuesday to see if it is good to go. If not, I will buy a new battery. The car is actually in pretty good shape. She is excited about it and can't wait to clean it and drive it around.

I am actually looking forward to her car running as well. She is always driving my car and it gets less gas mileage than her car will.

My leg is still sore but it is much better. I am not able to run or jump yet but the limp is much better and I think it should be better by the end of the week. I think it helps to keep it wrapped up so that is the plan for awhile.

Time to start my day. I always make the kids a good breakfast when they have a game or a meet. I told Jess I would make her pancakes this morning. She needs the carbs and a good meal to start the day so she is ready to go tonight.
I am out!
