Well its better than a stick in the eye!

I am very glad it is Friday. The smell of football is in the air and I like that smell!

The weather is going to be good today. Much cooler that it has been and dry as well. We had a bit of rain last night but it wasn't a big deal.

The volleyball tournament went well last night. The girls won the first 3 games and played for the championship. The team they played was a smaller school but the had 9 seniors and 2 juniors on the team so they were all pretty good. They went to state last year in their class.

We lost but the games were awesome. There was a large crowd of students from Perry that came to watch and they were LOUD! It was very fun and pretty exciting. We lost the first game and were down 20-10 in the second. They play to 25. They came back and won 27 to 25 and Jess had the winning spike. The crowd was loud and everyone was cheering, it was actually a good time. They lost the third game 16-18. The third game only goes to 15 but it was so close it could have gone either way. Some of the boys came up to Jess after the game and asked if they could have her autograph...:)

Drew went to the doctor yesterday and they said he has asthma. He has an inhaler he has to use twice a day. Once in the morning and once at night. He has an emergency inhaler, that I don't think he will need much if at all, that he can use if he has trouble breathing during the day. He had been complaining this week about not being able to breath at practice so maybe this will help. He has his first football game on Tuesday, here in Perry and he made the A team. He played tight end and defensive end. I am excited to watch them play. I hope the weather is good.

This weekend should be pretty good. The weather is going to be nice. I have a bit of yardwork to do but I should be able to get it all done before the huskers kick off. I need to make some tailgate food this week. I told the kids I would and they like the dips and chili and other fixins that go along with the football season.

Go Big Red!

I see your lips moving but there isn't any sound coming out!

I think I am back on track as far as the week goes. It feels like Thursday. It is garbage day and no golf!

Jess found out yesterday that she tied a school record in volleyball Tuesday. She had 4 blocks in one game and it tied the school record set last year. Her name will go up on the record board for a second sport. How cool is that? She now has three school records. She also got asked to homecoming yesterday. I think she was more happy about that than the record.

I think Drew made the A team for 7th grade football. They have their first game Tuesday so it will be fun to see him play. He plays tight end and defensive end. I hope he gets a big hit. Personally, I would rather see him get a big hit than catch a pass for a touchdown.

My scruvy scare is over. Nancy brought in some fruit yesterday so I should be good to go for awhile. Whew - For awhile I thought I could actually feel my legs starting to bow.

Jess has a volleyball tournament tonight here in Perry. They start at 4:30 and play 4 matches. Tomorrow, they are all headed to the football game in Jefferson. The volleyball girls and the cross country girls are going to the game in a school bus together so it should be fun for them. Drew is going up with his mom and a friend. I will check with Nancy but I plan on going to her house, drinking some beer and listening to the game on the radio. It might even be cool enough here for a fire.

Hey - Hey - It's almost friday!

There once was a man from Nantucket.....

The weather continues to be good and it looks like it is going to be good the rest of the week. The volleyball team lost last night but they played well. Jess really looks sharp out there. She did a nice job but still gets to only play the front row. It was kind of funny. When she was in the other team wouldn't try to spike it, they kept trying to dink it over her head. In the first game she had a bunch of blocks so they didn't risk it and started dinking it over her head. Once she was out of the game, they started spiking it again. She was upset about the loss but I thought they played pretty well as a team and the team they played was good and full of seniors.

Drew had hot practice last night. He was tired but cleaned up and came to the game last night. I really need to get him a haircut but not sure when to fit it in.

It is nice to be at Wednesday already but I almost missed two meetings yesterday becuase I kept thinking it was Monday. Around 1:30 yesterday the Superintendant called me and said, "Are you coming down?". I forgot I had a meeting with him. I was thinking it was Monday. He said two other people did the same thing so it was no big deal. I am typically good with appointments and remembering things but this time I was completely out of touch with reality.

So I checked out Scurvy. I am not worried anymore. Milk has vitamin C in it and I think I am probably getting enough. You can all take a deep breath. I am not at risk of Scurvy...:)

Wherever you find four Irishmen you always find a fifth!

The weekend was really nice. Me and the kids went to Nebraska and had a great time. We spent the afternoon in the pool and then went to Jon's restraunt that night. Then it was back to the pool. The kids swam while me, mom and JoDee sat on the deck. It was a nice night with a sky full of stars.

Jess drove half of the way down and half of the way back. The traffic on the way back was bad but she did fine. There were semi trucks and cars and wild drivers but she held up fine and did a great job.

We start the work week today. It is nice because it is a short one. Jess has a volleyball game tonight and there is a parents meeting for Drew's football team tonight. He has his first game a week from tonight.

This week at work, we should have a chance to get caught up on all the little things that need to be done and we haven't had the time to get them done. One of my techs had a birthday last week and we need to have a little party for her. We will get that done this week as well. It looks like the weather is going to be good and that makes everything else better.

I was wondering if it is possible to get scurvy in the current world? I don't eat fruit very much and is it possible to actually get scurvy? I tink I will get some bananas and oranges this week.
