I wish I had more art hanging on my walls

It is a chilly Friday morning but you know what? It's Friday! I would take a rainy, cold, hungover, tired, achy, hair fallin out Friday over a sunny, warm Monday. Enough said!

The volleyball team won last night. I haven't talked to Jess yet but Dawn called last night and said they won and played well. I will talk to her more this morning and find out the details.

Drew and I had another "guys night in". We had grilled chicken breast and mashed potatos and gravy for dinner, watch "My Name is Earl" and "The Office".

I enjoy my evenings with Drew. We have fun and I think I entertain him.

The weekend calls for yard work. I have leaves to rake, gutters to clean, yard to mow and sidewalks to clean. I also have a sink to fix, it is dripping, so I think I will take care of that this weekend as well. The only thing that can set me back is the weather. I think it is going to be nice Saturday but may rain on Sunday. I definitely need to get the leaves done Saturday.

I am not sure how much college football I will watch this weekend. The Huskers are playing Oklahoma State and that team has a decent offense. I hope we don't get blown out! I hate that I feel this way about the Huskers. It is like seeing a family member get beat up. The huskers used to be about tradition and Nebraska values. Walk-ons were welcome to come and take a shot at being great. Often they did. The huskers used to be like family. Today we have an AD that could care less. A coach that thinks he is still in the NFL and has no clue about what it means to be a Husker and a team that is caught between a incompetent staff and a fan base that has expectations of consistent winning seasons.

I will listen to the husker game and take the punches with the team like I have done all season. I never thought the program will fall to this level.

The Perry football team has only won one game this year and play a stong Lewis Central team tonight. It is another case hoping to not get blown out. The difference between a Perry loss and a Husker loss is expectations are different. If Perry wins, the town celebrates like crazy. A loss is just another loss and is not a dissapointment. I think the coach we have can turn it around. It is his first season and I think they will get better each year. Last year we didn't win a game. This year, so far, we have won 1.

My birthday is Monday and I don't really have any emotions about it. Last night I said to Drew, "What do you want to do Monday night?" He said, "Watch "Chuck" and "Heros", later on he said "Hey, Monday is your bithday. Let's celebrate that."

He makes me laugh.

What is that sound off in the distance? Could it be another record being broken?

It is very cold this morning. I can take the chill pretty good but I am about ready to turn on the heat. Damn! Do I have a window open somewhere?

The weather is supposed to be decent today. Cool, cloudy and no rain. I have an early morning meeting but should be able to get a bunch of work done the rest of the day.

So last night the kids and I go to the store and get groceries. It had been about two weeks so we were getting kind of desperate. Anyway, we get our stuff and it was getting late so we drove through Burger King. We ate and then Jess had to go to an FCA activity. She was gone until after 9. When she got home we were sitting in the living room talking and she said, "Oh! by the way, I broke another school record last night." WHAT! She forgot to tell me all night until late?

She broke the school record for Kills in a game. The old record was 7 and she got 8 the other night. So she has two school records in track and now two school records in volleyball. She broke the school record for blocks in a game earlier this season. She will now have her name up on the record board, at the high school, four times. She acts like it is no big deal but it IS a big deal. How awesome is that?

Drew and I hung out and watch TV last night. We watched that show "Kidnation". I am not a big fan of the show. I think there is something up we don't see as viewers. They showed the kids cooking the first episode and since they don't show them cooking or eating. I am not so certain they aren't getting help. I think there is a bunch of hokie stuff up with that show and I am getting tired of many of the kids. Drew likes the show so I watch it with him on Wednesdays. It is nice for us to get to spend some time together, just the two of us. We talk and play and watch TV, it is nice.

Jess has a game tonight and it is over an hour away. I don't think I am going to go but she only has three or four games left so I am kind of on the fence. Most likely I won't go if Drew has homework. I will stay with him and make dinner and make sure he does his school work. Going to games far away is tough when you don't get back until late and then still have homework to do.

Friday is just around the corner. WHOO-HOOO!

Get out the sweat shirts - Fall is here!

The football game did not go well last night. We kicked off and the other teams first play from scrimmage went for a touchdown. They kicked off and we fumbled the return, they recovered and scored two plays later. We were quickly down 14-0. The team settled down and played better but not enough to get a win. We lost 22-0. It was a sad ending to Drew's season but the weather was good and nobody got hurt. Basketball practice starts at the end of the month.

The volleyball team had a good tournament. They came in second. The won all their games and lost in the championship game. They play well when we serve well and the back row holds up their end. Once our serves start to crumble and the back row isn't able to handle a serve from the other team, we lose. Jess played well again. She has several blocks and a bunch of kills.

Fall is here! The weather is chilly if not a bit cold in the morning. It is the fall crisp, clean morning air smell that I really enjoy. I also enjoy walking home from the games at night. The starts are bright in the sky, the air is cool and there aren't any bugs to bother me.

The tennant that are renting my house on first street are a nightmare. They are messy and let the yard go to pot. The bushes are overgrown, the grass is high and they just use the garage as a junk storage. They leave the door wide open and it just looks like crap. They are scheduled to move out by December 1 and I dread seeing how they leave the house. I am sure they aren't getting their deposite back but there is a point in which the deposite just doesn't cover the mess they leave behind. We started off by renting the house to them as a favor and it has been a headache almost from the start.

This weekend I have a bunch of yard work to do and it is kind of a good thing the huskers suck because I am not tempted to watch the pay-per-view. I will probably listen to the game but I can do yard work while I am doing that. It stinks that the huskers are so bad. It makes the football season very dissapointing.

Can a Tuesday be Terrific?

School is back in session today after a three day weekend. It is cool this morning but it is supposed to be very nice this afternoon.

Both kids had practices yesterday and parent/teacher conferences even though school was not in session.

Today is game day! Drew plays his final football game of the year in Dallas Center today. Jess has a home tournament tonight.

Work is going ok. Same old story. Much to do, little time to do it. I sometimes wonder if I am too hard on people when they call for help. I am not rude or short with them on the phone but when I get done talking with them, I often wonder how they find their way home from work. I am a bit quick to judge a persons intellectual capacity base on their ineptness on a computer. Probably a bit harsh sometimes but realistically what they have to do is not brain surgery. It really has to be lazy or stupid and is probably lazy most of the time.

I woke up this morning in a pretty good mood. I am quite certain that my dreams were good last night but I can't remember what they were about. I just remember it being kind of a happy place and having a nice time. I can't remember any specifics but it seemed that wherever I was at or whatever I was doing was making me happy. It is kind of odd how dreams can impact the next day. Sometimes I have bad dreams and wake up grouchy or sad and it has an impact on the day ahead. The same would go for times when the dreams are good.

I think I have mentioned before but one of the women who work for me has a vineyard. Anyway, she brings in wine from time to time when we have get togethers and I always enjoy it. I think the wine they make is a bit higher in alchohol content than some you buy but I told her if they get their license, to let me know and I would buy some bottles. I do enjoy a good glass of wine at night. The trouble is there are so many kinds and it is hard to find a bottle that is something you would like. Some wine is really dry and kind of bitter, others are so sweet is like drinking soda. I like the wine that is kind of in between. Not too sweet but definitely not too bitter either. Wine is good for the heart.

I think this week is going to move pretty fast. I see the leaves are falling in my yard and I am dreading starting that process. I will spend a great deal of time this weekend cleaning up the yard.

Monday - Like a hair in your scrambled eggs!

In the constant loop that is my life, we are back at Monday once again. I have made it very clear how I feel about Monday so I will not spend time repeating the disgust I am feeling right now. Thank God for coffee!

The weekend was ok. I went to the volleyball tournament. We ended up 2nd out of 8 teams. We played in the championship game but came up short. Jess played really well and continues to get better each week.

Drew went to the movies with his friends Saturday night. The saw the new Resident Evil movie. I love those movies but will probably wait until it comes out on video to watch it. Going to the theatre is very expensive these days.

Jess was invited to a birthday party out on a farm. It was this girls 16th birthday so she was having a big bash. They was rumor that they were going to have liquor out there so Jess and a couple of the girls on the volleyball team went out to dinner an then to watch some movies. The skipped the birthday bash because they didn't want to be out there if there was going to be liquor.

The Huskers lost 41-6. This may be the worst Nebraska team I can remember. The only other one that may have been as bad is the one that lost 77-10 to Texas Tech a few years back. It was Callahan's first year. I am expecting another ass kicking from them this year as well. Is it possible for us to lose the rest of the games this year? This team sucks and it is ruining my season. The Broncos lost 41-3. They may suck just as bad as the Huskers this year. My football season is not going well.

There isn't any school today. It is a full day teacher's inservice. Tonight they have parent/teacher conferences. I am not going to the high school one but have to go to the middle school one because they are "student lead". What a waste of time! The school likes it because on paper they can say they have a large parent turn-out. But realistically, it is a complete waste of everyone's time. One of the many things "educators" don't get!

Tomorrow is Drew's last football game and Jess has a volleyball tournament here in Perry. I hope the weather is good.

It is a rainy Monday and I have a bunch of work to do today. I have been really feeling lazy lately and need to get my butt moving again.
