I think my neighbor is building an ark but he aint Noah!

The rain continues to fall and so do our moods. It does look like Saturday and Sunday are going to be ok but once again, the week ahead shows rain throughout. This sucks!

Track meet was cancelled yesterday. Drew has a meet tonight but my guess is that it will be cancelled as well. I would have to look but I think over half of our track meets have been cancelled this year. I thought we were headed for a big drought of some kind this year. I guess that prophet was an idiot.

So Drew is doing a claymation project in art class. The create clay figures put them in a pose, take a picture, move them a bit-take another picture and so on until they are done. Then they run the pictures through the computer at a high speed so it looks like motion. Kind of what they do with cartoons. Anyway, he is in a group with three Hispanic boys and they were going to make a scene of sneaking across the border and getting caught by the border patrol.

How funny is that? The teacher ended up nixing the idea and told them it sent the wrong message. They had created two guys that were to sneak across the border, the fence, a border partol guy and a border patrol dog. They also had a cactus in the scene. Since they had to change it, the turned it into a volleyball scene. The fence is the net, the dog is sitting watching, the two illegals are on one team and the border patrol guy and the cactus are on the other team.

Drew was disgusted she wouldn't let them do it the way they wanted. They have an Oscar program at the end of the year where they show the claymations and kids vote for their favorites. Drew said all the Hispanic kids would have voted for their so he thought they would have won. Too funny.

Jess leaves for Minneapolis tonight and plays first thing tomorrow morning. I hope they do well. There is opening ceremonies for baseball tomorrow at the gym and then he has a track meet Monday.

I found out Toys R Us is getting 30 Wii game stations in Sunday morning. The store opens at 10 so I think I will head up at 9 so I can get one. Drew got gift cards for Christmas to cover the cost and he wants a Wii. I am taking his gift cards to use and will give him the cash equivalent so he can get it. He doesn't know yet.

Ok, off to start my weekend.

Yesterday the weather was perfect......What a waste!

Trash day is going to be rainy and chilly. I am not sure what irritates me more, the weather or the garbage people. I guess it would have to be the weather because it has been screwing us almost every day. The garbage people only stick it to us once a week.

Class went well last night. It will be a bit sad when I finish up with this group next week. I will never see any of them again and it has been a nice experience meeting them.

Yesterday was a mess at work. It was career fair at the high school and it was a cluster &&!@. We ran our asses of half of the day then I had a personnel issue and had to deal with that in the afternoon. The Adjunct Council meeting was at 4:30 so I left work at 3:30 and then had to teach. It is good to have that day behind me.

Today I have a conference call with Microsoft. They want to do a follow-up case study on our Vista deployment. It must be a slow news day for them so we have a conference call at 9:30.

Jess is supposed to have a track meet today but the weather is going to be bad so I would bet it gets cancelled.

The weekend is coming up fast. Drew has a track meet Friday, once again if the weather holds. It is still supposed to be crappy tomorrow. Jess leaves for Minneapolis Friday night.

Not much else to say today.

Mother Nature blows!

If you are into wind energy, today is a day you would love. It is a constant 20-25 mph wind. When I say constant, I mean CONSTANT. No gusts, just a constant wind like you are riding on a motorcycle at 25 mph.

So here is the deal. The weather people, lying bastards that they are, gave us all the impression that this week was going to be awesome. Sunny, warm, wonderful. So as we were grinding out the week of rain and cold last week, we were able to cling to images of fun in the sun for this week. Well, it is sunny and warmer, but this wind SUCKS! Tonight, tomorrow and Friday....RAIN! I hate this.

Drew had a track meet last night. He did high jump and the open 800. Although he didn't place, he did do pretty well. I think he can run the 800 but really needs to work on his conditining.

Today there is a career fair at the high school. I think they have 60 presenters. They all have specific technology needs of course so we will most likely have a busy morning. I also have a department meeting this morning.

This afternoon I have an Adjunct Council meeting and then I teach class. Only two more classes as West campus for the semester. I have the final ready so today we do a kind of final prep. Four hours of review and exercises.....whoo-hooo!

Jess is supposed to have a track meet Thursday but with the rain coming, we will have to wait and see. She leaves for Minneapolis Friday night for her last volleyball tournament. The play 8 am Saturday morning.

Drew has a track meet Friday, opening ceremonies for baseball sometime this weekend and then another track meet Monday.

I have this haunting feeling that we are going to go from cold weather to super hot. No Spring, just Winter to Summer. I hate it when that happens. It seems we are losing our Spring and Fall more and more each year. Last Fall was a bust. It was hot and humid for a long time and then it got cold and rainy very quick and now we are in mid April and still no out of the weathe funk.

Maybe next week will be better.

Hell's Kitchen kicks butt

The wind is kickin and the sun is shining so it is kind of a mixed bag today. I wonder how I would start my blog if I lived in California. It is always sunny and nice so the weather would never really be a topic. I guess my blog would be a bit shorter if I lived in a place where the weather was great every day. Kind of like heaven.

Jess had a track meet last night. She jump 15 feet in the long jump which is a pretty good jump for her and ended up 4th. Not the place she wanted but it was points for the team and that is good. She got 1st in the open 400, 1st in the open 800 and 1st in the sprint medley relay. So at the end of the day she has 3 golds and a 4th.

She said it was windy so her time wasn't great in the open 400. She ran 61 seconds which is a couple seconds off her pace. She won by quite a bit so there wasn't anyone pushing her. The same with the 800, she won by 50 yards.

Class went pretty well last night. We covered the rest of the material and were done by 8:30. The students were happy to get out early and I was suprised we went through it so quickly. The exercises I had them do were only taking them 25 minutes and I blocked out 45 minutes for them.

It is kind of tough to gage that kind of thing. If I don't allow enough time, we don't cover the material and if I block too much, then we end up like we did last night. Oh well. Two more Monday night classes and it is over.

Drew has a track meet tonight. He is doing the high jump. He has pretty good form, he just needs to get UP a bit better. That is the only event he is doing.

I received the schedule for Jess' volleyball tournament this weekend. They play Saturday morning at 8 am so they will have to leave Friday night after practice. It would have been nice for them to play Saturday afternoon so they wouldn't have to have had a hotel room Friday night.

Not much else going on.

Off to start Tuesday.

What do you know, it's Monday and I don't feel like jumping off a cliff

The weather is going to be nice today. You notice I said GOING TO BE. It is a cold bastard out there right now. 28 degrees is not the best way to start a morning. But like the old saying goes in sports, "It's not how you start, it's how you finish". It is going to be 57 today.

5 more classes to teach before I am done. I have three Monday night classes to do and 2 Wednesday night classes. It will be good to be done even though it has been a pretty good semeseter.

There are 7 weeks of school left. 34 school days before summer. It is the final countdown and I hope it goes smoothly. Once again they took the rest of my budget to cover deficits elsewhere so we won't have to worry about early summer projects. If the weather is good and work is calm, it could be a pretty good ride until summer break. That is a big IF.

Jess has a track meet tonight. I have to teach so I won't be able to attend. That kind of sucks bu what can I do. She also has another track meet on Thursday but it is supposed to rain so who knows about that one.

Drew has a track meet Friday and then another one on Monday. He also has his first baseball game next week. It should be interesting since they haven't practiced much.

I can hear the birds singing outside. They must be happy or just cold. I can't tell but they are loud.

Off to start my day.
