Is it July yet?

The arctic blast is moving past us but it is still cold. -7 this morning. The kids are going to have school today which is a nice change. I can't believe how much school has been missed this week.

My tenants called and said the furnace isn't working so I had to have the plumbing and heating guy go check it out. He said they put screens over the return vents and the furnace was so hot he couldn't barely touch it. He removed the screens and I think replaced a switch.

Well they called and said it still isn't working and they had to buy space heaters to keep warm. The plumber couldn't get there yesterday so he is going this morning. They called last night all ticked off. I told the tenant that if the heating guys says the screens caused the problem, they would have to pay for this repair. I also told them I was concerned about the long term effects on the furnace.

The tenants have been a problem from the beginning. They are always late with rent, they sometime don't pay and I have to hound them for the money. They complain about every little thing and are just not good to work with. They still owe $650 for the deposit and $500 from back rent that they say they paid and the bank must have stolen. So $1,150.

It is Friday and I have one meeting today and Jess plays in Carrol tonight. It is about an hour drive.

Nothing on the agenda for the weekend.

Off to start.

-20....Eat that Anchorage!

We have passed quirky and have gotten down right ridiculous. A high today of -4 and right now as I type this it is -20 (That is not wind chill either boys and girls).

All of the schools have closed today. Most had closed last night because they knew it was going to be so cold and they didn't want students out.

We have now had 5 snow days so that pushes our last school day to June 3.

I taught class last night and it went well. I didn't rip a fart so that was a nice change.

I have 12 students in class and it seems to be a good group. I think it will go well.

I am sure the kids are happy they don't have school but both basketball teams haven't had practice in a week. Jess has a game tomorrow and all of the girls have been dead-assing for the last few days. They seems slow and lethargic in the last game, I would imagine it may be worse tomorrow.

Did I mention, I hate this weather?

Nothing on the agenda for tonight. I think I will just watch TV and relax. Not sure what we will have for dinner. Something hot.

Ok, I should probably let my car run for about 30 minutes this morning before I take it to work so off to start.

I think hell might be cold and snowy

We have become an arctic wilderness! Snow, snow, and more snow is all we seem to be getting lately. We have had snow every day for the last 4 or 5 days and I am pretty sick and tired of shoveling. No school yesterday and a late start today.

I think it is going to be -16 tonight. This is not wind chill it is just the temp. I HATE WINTER!!!!!

I teach class tonight. It should be fine. I get a chance to meet the students and get thing ready to go. I hope the weather is good for the trip to West campus. I don't need ice.

Jess had a game last night. We won by 13 or so but it should have been more. Jess didn't have that good of a game but she still scored 16, had three blocked shots. Once was really cool - a girl shot the ball and it was on its way to the basket when Jess jumped up high and hit it into the stands.

She seemed a little tired and slow. She wasn't moving her feet and she was reaching for the ball. She had 4 fouls and could have easily fouled out. It was a good win but the team is really sluggish and they will need to get better as the teams get tougher.

Drew has a makeup game Thursday and it is away. I am not sure where.

Friday another game in Carrol which is about an hour away. At least it will be Friday.

I am tired and sweating from scooping the snow so I need to shower.

More tomorrow. (If I am not spending the morning shoveling.)

Shoulda, coulda, woulda

We are going to get a blizzard today. It is supposed to snow about 4 inches but then wind is going to pick up to 30 mph. We are supposed to have zero visability. If this happens, they will cancel my class for tonight. Next Monday is MLK day so DMACC doesn't hold classes on that day. It will be two weeks before we will start.

It was a long weekend. Jess had a game Saturday and they lost. The team played terrible. I think we have the better team but you have to play hard to get the wins and we did not do that.

We drove to Sterling, Illinois after the game. It was about a three and a half hour drive. The roads were in good condition so the trip went well. The team played well in the morning and were the number two seed for the tournament. We had a first round bye and then fell apart and lost to a team that really wasn't very good. We just couldn't get it together and we lost. I guess that was kind of the theme of the weekend.

We drove back last night and got home around 8:30. I was wiped out so I went to Nancy's and picked up Molly and headed to bed.

I am scheduled to teach tonight and Wednesday night. Jess has games Tuesday and Friday. Drew has a game tonight and Thursday.

I used my Tom Tom GPS and that thing rocks! It took us right to the hotel and to the sports complex without any problems at all. It was right on. I like the fact that it has a ETA on it so you can kind of know when to expect to arrive. If you do any traveling at all, I would recommend having a Tom Tom.

I have a few meetings this morning but the afternoon is open. If we really do get the snow and wind like they are predicting; I think we will have an early out. I guess time will tell.

Off to start
