You Know What? I SUCK at golf!

For the first time in a long while, it is a very nice Friday. The weather here is going to be absolutely wonderful. Temps in the low 80's, sunshine, no humidity. It would be a wonderful day to be outside.

Golf was not good to me last night. I shot poorly but we won anyway. It was my worst score of the year and I usually don't care but last night I started to get a little frustrated and by the time we got to the ninth hole and my tee shot went wacko, I kind of just said the hell with it and smacked the ball with whatever club until I was done. I would have done just as well using the foot wedge!

I took the kids to a chinese buffet restraunt yesterday for lunch. Nancy, Drew, (ha, just saw than Nancy Drew, like the book!) Jessica and I got the buffet stuff to go. It is a good value and the food is really good. It also got the kids away from the house for a bit. They are counting down the days until they leave on vacations.

Jess has her end of the season pot luck/awards dinner for softball on Tuesday. We always seem to end up having to bring a main dish at every one of these darn things. I would consider just getting something at Hy-Vee but I have my culinary reputation to protect so I will probably cook something.

Drew is up early this morning. His weight lifting class is at 6:30 this morning and he has to be there by 6:15. I woke him up at 5:55. He had his clothes layed out and took a shower last night. He appears to be ready to go as I type this but as we get ready to walk out the door I would not be shocked if he forgot something.

So I downloaded the another season of "The surreal life" this week. It is a stupid show but I love it! The season has China Doll from the WWF, Mini Me, Peter Brady, one of the Go-Go's, Adrian something that won america's next top model, and some male model and a female rapper called da brat. So far so good. Mini Me got drunk as hell, rode naked on his little scooter through the house and took a pee in the workout room. Too Funny! My guilty pleasure.

Lots of work to do this weekend. I have a bunch of yard work and work, at work, to do. Jess plays in a basketball tournament in Boone, I may try to make the afternoon games but it depends on what the times are.

Have a great one!

I hope stupid is not contagious

Thursday comes to us with a bit of rain. We had some thunderstorms overnight and a few showers early this morning but everything should be cleared up by lunch time, at least according to the lying bastard.

I was watching television the other day and one of the major magazines, Time or Newsweek or something like that - I didn't feel like taking the time to check, said that the 6th best place to live in America is Pavillion, Nebraska. The top two places were somewhere in Wisconsin and out of the top 6 only one - Naples, Florida - was in a warm weather climate. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Now don't get me wrong, I love the Husker state and am sure Wisconsin is a fine place to live but honestly, if you had a billion dollars would you be looking at the Pavillion chamber of commerce website for homes? How about a ocean view where the sounds of the seagulls and the waves are your morning alarm clock. How about a view of the sun breaking over the mountains in the morning as you drink your cup of coffee. Yes, I know, traffic, smog, violence, home prices, blah, blah, blah! Give me a break, I hit lotto and I am looking for an ocean view.

Sorry for the rant but some times I wonder why people don't take a second to look up from their data sheets with all the statistics and calculations and use an ounce of common sense. Good grief!

Ok, the softball team lost their game last night. The season is over and I have to say I am a bit relieved. They lost 1 to 0 and had a few opportunities to score. I have to say I am glad it is done.

Golf night is tonight and the weather should be perfect. I am sure it will be much better than my game.

I think my life will be boring over the next month or so. I will be busy and all but nothing of any mention is going to happen. It is always this way this time of year. I work and work and work and don't do much else. The kids don't have any activities so it gets to be kind of a slow time of year.

Have a great Thursday. I will write tomorrow.

If Wednesday were a color it would be Olive Drab

Here we are half way through the week already. My work plans have been up and down. There have been great successes and other things have been put on delay and are lagging behind. Such is life I guess. I figure it is the setbacks in life that make the successes more rewarding. Pretty deep huh? lol

The softball season could end tonight. They play Dallas Center Grimes in Grimes so they have the home field advantage. During the season we played them twice and split. They won at our house, we won at theirs. We will see how it goes.

Drew spent the night at a friends house last night. He is always doing something. One thing that boy isn't is bored.

Yesterday, at the end of the day, Nancy had her grandkids over so we had them and the goose, come to the office. We walked over to the covenience store across the street and got Ice Cream cones. It was very hot so there were some melting issues but all in all it was worth it.

I made hamburgers on the grill and mozzerella sticks for dinner. It was good. I could probably eat a burger like that every day and never really get tired of them.

I forgot to update everyone on the rapist here in Perry. They never caught the guy but there haven't been anything occuring in the last couple of months so he must have moved on. At least I hope he has moved on. Perry seems a little less safe for women now.

I finished reading the story 1408. I think they must have changed the story for the movie because the story ended up not being very good. The build up going into the room was great but once inside, the story kind of flopped.

Tomorrow is golf night and I think it is going to cool down and the rain should be gone by lunch time. Whoo-hooo! Game back on!

Feeling HOT HOT HOT

It is another hot summer day here in central Iowa. The temp is supposed to get to 95 and the humidity will push the "feels like" temp over 100. Sucks to be us! I guess it could be worse. I could work an outside job or a job that consists of working in non-air conditioned locations. Me, I have a cushy office with an air conditioner so I have little to complain about.

The kids and I played cards again last night. They are getting used to an evening activity and so far it is fun but I am not sure I want to do something every night. Wednesday, Jess has the regional softball game. Could be the end of the season. Drew has weight lifting today and will spend the rest of the day outside playing with his friends. I am going to talk to him this morning about making sure he stays cool and drinks plenty of water.

Yesterday we had a treat in the tech office. The weather was hot and we didn't get a chance to leave for lunch....we ate peanut butter and jelly and took about 5 minutes for lunch. Later, however; we went to a convenience store across the street from the school and got a soft serve, ice cream cone! I haven't had one yet this summer and they have been a traditional summer treat in our office. It was nice to have one yesterday.

It seems that the summer is flying by but as I think about it. I find myself looking to August and all the things we have to have done by then and begin to worry. I know things always seem to work out but boy o' boy, it can seem like an avalanche waiting to fall.

The weather people are saying we have little to no chance for rain this week ,except for Thursday, GOLF NIGHT! Good thing they are wrong most of the time.....It will probably be the nicest, clearest day of the week.

Monday, Magic, Mogels, and My Weekend

We went to Harry Potter this weekend. It was good. I don't think it was the best one of the group but it was worth going to. I can't believe how much it cost to go to the movies these days. I can buy several movies for the price it costs to take three people to the movies. We don't typically go to the movies but this is kind of a tradition. I have taken the kids to every Harry Potter movie so we will continue this. I am not sure we will make it as a group to the end. Jess will go to college before they all get made.

The weekend was good. I had to work Saturday and Sunday but only until noon. I got a bunch done on Saturday and a little done on Sunday. Every little bit counts though.

Jess has a regional softball game on Wednesday. I am hoping they lose so the season is over with. It has been a long season and I think everyone is ready for it to be over.

Drew has weight lifting on Tuesday and Thursday but he keeps very busy during the week playing with the neighborhood kids. It is quite a crew we have out here. They are all good kids so that makes it nice.

Dawn, Drew and Jessica are going with Dawn's parents on vacation again this year. They are going to Niagra Falls this year. It is good for the kids to get away. They always have fun. They are scheduled to leave next Wednesday morning so they will be here for another week.

Last night was game night at the Nichols house. Me and the kids played Sorry and Clue Mystery. It was fun. Jess made a cake so we ate cake, drank soda and played games. They kicked my butt in Sorry. We also played blackjack and used candy as money. I was the house and ended up taking all of their "money". I tried to tell them, the house eventually wins.

The athletic director here had set a moratorium on practices this summer. For two weeks they closed the gyms and told the coaches to give the kids a break from practices. The girls basketball coach is having the girls practice at a park at the rec center. So Jess has to go to practice this morning. The AD has very little pull with the coaches here. They do what they want regardless of what he says. Jess has "the ball" they use for outside practice. They only have one and she is keeping it here so I guess if she doesn't go, they don't have practice.

Lots of projects going on at work right now. I have vendors in the buildings doing work all week.

So much fun!
