Lane 4 is no longer the prime lane...yuck!

The weather was not as good as they lying bastards said it would be. Cloudy, windy and a bit cool. Today is "supposed" to be nice. Why do I even watch the weather? It is like a sickness.

The track meet was OK. Jess won the long jump with a personal best 16 feet even. She was really feeling sick. Her cold just won't let her breath right so she was struggling.

She won the 400 with a time of 59.97 which was ok but I could tell she was having trouble with her breathing. She said she felt like she was going to get sick

She got second in the 800. She just died the second lap and didn't run a very good time for her.

The got 1st in the sprint med relay but she puked right before she ran (on the track no less). It wasn't much vomit so it wasn't that gross but still.

After she ran, the coach let me take her home so she could go to bed. Today she runs in the Drake relays but it is only one 400. I am hoping she gets better soon. This chest cold has been hanging on for a week.

Drew is going to state TSA on Monday. He will be competing in three events. RC car, Quiz bowl, and bridge building. They are going to the Adventurland hotel in Des Moines and staying overnight. He is excited. He will miss two days of school, Monday and Tuesday.

He also has a track meet tonight. He is throwing the discus. Tomorrow a baseball game.

No school today - teacher's inservice. I have to go in a bit early today to make sure they are all setup for the presentations.

Once again I am going to try to take pictures and put them on the blog. I just do a terrible job of that but I am going to really put some effort into getting the camera out and taking some shots.

Ok, off to start

How can a balding man have such crazy hair in the morning?

Weather is great today. 70's and sunny. There might be a little wind but that is ok.

It was one of those days that I felt like I worked and slept and nothing else. It was testing night for the my computers class. They seemed to do well but I have one student that is as slow as a person can be without going backwards.

Everyone else was done with the test by 8:00. She was still sitting there, staring at the screen at 9. She did finally finish up but man on man.

Track meet today for Jess. She is still fighting her cold so we will see how she does. I am not sure where the track meet is but I am sure I will get it figured out.

Tomorrow we don't have school. It is an all day teachers inservice day. Kind of a nice way to start the weekend. I would imagine it will be slow.

Drew has a track meet Friday night and a baseball game Saturday. I think the weather will be good for both. We may get rain on Saturday but I think it is going to be at night.

Is there some kind of a pill for motivation?

The weather is looking better for today. Yesterday was still windy and chilly but a little better. I think it is going to get warm today and stay that way through Friday.

Jess is still under the weather but getting better every day. She is really fighting this cold. I hate colds and know how it sucks.

Drew had his track meet last night. He threw the discus and said he didn't do very well. He doesn't really like track so I would imagine he will golf in high school.

I slept in a bit today. I was just having trouble getting out of bed so I am running behind.

I give part one of the final tests to my Wednesday class tonight. I hope it goes well. I want them to succeed. Truth be told, I didn't make it that hard. Of course, I have said that before and had everyone fail so I guess we will see.

I am not sure if I mentioned a new dog training system I bought. Anyway, it is working well and Molly is really doing great with it. I am amazed at how well it works. The basics are down but I need time to work with her to get the other stuff now.

Off to start

The cold hand of winter is clinging to my ankle

The weather people lied about yesterday...It SUCKED!!! The weather was cold and windy and not good at all. The bastards are telling me it is going to get better tonight. Whatever.

Jess went home sick yesterday. She missed the track meet last night. It was probably for the best. The weather was terrible so it would have only made things worse. She slept all afternoon and seemed to have more color in her face when I got home from class.

She went to bed early and should be much better today.

Drew's baseball game was canceled last night. The coaches had the good sense to realize that the weather was not good for anything.

He has a track meet today in Nevada. I was wrong last week when I thought his track meet was in Nevada, that one was in Jefferson. Tonight is in Nevada. It starts at 4 so I won't be heading up there. It is a little over an hour and I think he is only running one event.

He has a meet here Friday I will be able to see. He also has a baseball game Saturday.

Jess has a track meet Thursday and then runs at the Drake Relays Friday. I don't plan on going to Drake Friday.

On a cool note. Jess got a track letter from Cornell University. The first Ivy League school to contact her for sports. She brought home about 10 letters from different colleges yesterday. I think she is getting at least one every day now. Some from small colleges and others from big ones. She has gotten letters for three sports. Basketball, Volleyball and Track.

Her latest volleyball letter was from a college in Minnesota, I forget which one now but in the brochure it says they are "The Harvard of the Midwest". That kind of made me smile.

Class went well last night but I blew up the projector. It was running really hot and the temp light was flashing red. I sprayed compressed air in it to cool it down and when the cold air hit the hot bulb....BOOM! I will have to replace the damn thing today.

Off to start.

It isn't my birthday but I sure feel older today

Monday and the cycle of life continues.

The weather is going to be pretty good today. Warm in the 50's but windy.

The weekend was busy. Jess played volleyball and the track meet was canceled because of a big thunderstorm predicted to come through. Well it never did but it was good that they didn't have to come back from Minneapolis.

The team won all three matches the first day and then lost 2 of 3 the second day and lost the first match the final day. The club season is over. It has been pretty long and I am kind of glad it is done.

Drew and I had a good weekend together. We hung out on Saturday and went to Des Moines on Sunday. We ate at Red Lobster and then went to Super Target.

He had a father-son scrimmage for baseball. My arm and back are sore as heck today. I am getting too old for this. I had to play shortstop. That was the first problem. I did fine but am paying the price today. The throw to first gets longer every year.

Drew has a baseball game tonight here in Perry. Jess has a track meet in Adel and I teach class.

I suppose I should get started.
