Friday whala ding dong

Friday of spring break is not a normal Friday. It is the end of an open week and I teach. Blah!

Weather is cold and going to stay cold today. I think there are blizzards to the south but we should only have cold.

Jess' boyfriend Micky brought over a balloon and a teddy bear that was wearing a sweater that said"Prom ?". He brought it over while she was at volleyball practice. I am sure she was thrilled when she got home.

I have a little bit of work to do today but whatever.

Volleyball tournament at Drake all weekend. I teach for two more weekends and am finally done with the weekend commitment. I will be glad when it is done.

Not much else going on. I am just waiting for the weather to stay nice and school to get out.

Off to start.

First the rain, then the humidity, then the mosquitos...oh yeah

More rain and cold but sometime spring is like that, isn't it.

Class went ok last night. I covered some material and they took a test on Excel. It took one of the students 2 1/2 hours to create 2 spreadsheets. Most of them took anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half but there is always one in a group isn't there.

The tough part about doing these classes is the level of knowledge ranges so much. I have to give enough time for tests for the slowest student so the ones that know the material well, really get out early and have it pretty easy. Such is life I guess.

Jess' car needed some repairs so we took it to the shop. To get everything fixed......(Drum roll please).....$1,600!!!!

To get the essentials done, which is what I am doing....$600.

It is to the point that it may be better to look at another vehicle. If I did that, I would probably buy a truck and let just use my car. I will have to watch and see if there is a good deal on a truck over the next year. I can wait.

It was a little busier in the office yesterday than what I would have liked. I am not sure why there were so many people around but it was a bit busy. I am hoping today is quiet. It is spring break, for crying out loud!

Jess have volleyball practice tonight but there isn't much else going on until the weekend. Saturday she has a volleyball tournament at Drake University. It is Saturday and Sunday. I probably won't get to see any of it Saturday because I teach but will be there on Sunday.

Trash day today. You know who I feel about that.

Off to start.

Time flies sometimes when your not having fun

Wednesday and still rainy.

The track meet was a long one yesterday. There were teams from all over the state and from all classes. There were 24 heats of the 400. All of the events took forever and we left around 7:45. The two and a half hour drive home was long.

Jess did ok. She jumper 15.9 in the long jump which was a good jump for her. She ran the 400 in 1:01 which was a bit slower than we were expecting but going to Denver to play volleyball and having 5 days of very little cardio can do that to you.

She ran the 800 in 1:31 and didn't place but it was mostly her own fault. She got boxed in right away and wasn't able to get out. There were 20 girls in her heat and she just didn't get out early like she needed to.

The 4x200 didn't do well. She ran a good time but the team wasn't competitive. So in the end she got 5th overall in the 400. Which was good and she got to stand on the podium and got a medal.

I got an email from mom yesterday saying you guys had big wind in Exeter. I will have to call and get the details. We had some high winds here but not that bad. My back door was pulled off the frame and is broken in two spots. I think it can be fixed but it must have been left ajar and the wind took it.

Spring break is moving right along. I fear that it will be over in a blink of an eye. I teach tonight in Des Moines and have a bit of grading still to do.

Off to start.

There should be a law against rain on Monday

Monday of spring break and it is rainy. As a matter of fact, it is going to be rainy for most of the week.

I always thought that nature should have sympathy for those of us who can't go to some tropical location for spring break. On the contrary; mother nature decided to piss all over us as to put an exclamation on the fact we didn't get away.

Jess had a good time in Denver. They got back late last night. I haven't talked to her since she got home but I talked with her yesterday and she told me how they played. The did ok, won some and lost some but there were a lot of college coaches there and there were a few that asked about her. I guess we will see if we get contacted by any.

Drew and I had a good weekend. It was the weekend for MEN. We ate ribs, watched action movies, played basketball and hung out. It was a good time.

Tomorrow Jess runs at UNI. I think I am going to go but am kind of dreading the two hour drive. It always sucks to drive such a long way but it is something I need to do.

She is running the 400, 800 and 200 relay oh, and long jump.

Ok, off to start.
