I think I need to write a country song

So much to tell and so little time.

Jess had a game last night. They lost 14-0 in three innings. The coach is ticked off and is letting the team know it. I think they got about a 20 minute lecture last night. Of course when you have zero hits and two errors on the night as a team, you are pretty much in a hurt.

The stupid powers that be, at the country club, decided to have golf league last night. It was windy, and cloudy and wet and half the course was unplayable. We played the first 7 holes and then were supposed to walk the last two.

Well, number 8 is a long par 5 and it takes us as far away from the carts and the clubhouse as you can get. We teed off and were walking down to hit our second shots when the thunder rolled and the lightning flashed and the sprinkles of rain began to fall. We said the hell with that, picked up our balls and went home.

There was big rain and thunderstorms last night. Creston, Iowa had 10 inches of rain. Most places are a mess and this pretty much stinks.

Drew had a game last night. They won 5-3. He is getting tennis elbow, I think he has been thowing kind of side arm, so he is having some trouble. He is still playing well but he arm is sore at night. I have been having him ice it and take Aleve.

My tenants are being butt heads. They wrote me an email and said they couldn't pay all the rent on the first they would have to pay half now and half on the 16th. They couldn't even pay the first half until today. Well, yesterday I get another email from them and they say they spent $200 plus on paint and supplies to paint the attic and want to deduct it from the rent.

They hadn't even paid half at this point. What the hell. I told them I am not paying for their paint. That is an option and if they want to paint they can but it is their expense. They have been requesting all of these improvments on the house but have yet to pay a deposit or this months rent.

Fridge still broken. Repair guy comes today.

I have to say, life isn't dull. The problem is I have a mouth full of cancer sores dealing with all of these shananigans. Whatever!

The superintendant did a wage comparison for our positions with other schools in our conference and state wide schools our size. It turns out I am one of the LOWEST paid tech directors, and am the LOWEST in the conference. I hope this means I will be getting a jump in my salary.

It is Friday and Jess is supposed to have a softball tournament in Urbandale or Ankeny, not sure which, today and tomorrow. I am not going today but will go to the games tomorrow.

I need a vacation.

More saga Monday.

Come on in an join the pity party

So my refridgerator crapped out on me yesterday. That SUCKS!!!! I am not sure what the hell is going on with it. It has power but the water won't run out of the dispenser and the thing doesn't seem to be cold.

At least I have a fridge in the garage and a freezer downstairs. I am going to see if I can get someone to look at it. I really don't want to replace the damn thing. It really isn't that old. I would think it would be maybe 6 or 7 years old.

Jess had a game last night and they lost 9-0. The team only had two hits on the night and Jess had one of them. They looked like hell. The shortstop is terrible and they can't get their bats around. They are supposed to have a game tonight but it is raining (AGAIN) so who knows.

Jess has weight lifting at 6:30 this morning so she is just a ray of sunshine right now. I just woke her up and she it not a happy camper. I really don't blame her. Here is her schedule today:
  • 6:30 - 8:00 Weight lifting
  • 11:00 12:00 Volleyball practice
  • 12:00 - 3:00 Batting practice
  • 3:45 - warm up for game

She is mostly worried about lunch. She doesn't have time to have anything so I told her to take a sandwich with her. Once again, not a happy camper.

More rain for the rest of the week, the weekend, and into next week. This is getting ridiculous. The river is flooded already so more rain is not a good thing. It also makes my mood crap.

I am supposed to golf tonight but I am sure they will cancel it. The course is flooded and we can't drive carts on it. I am not walking, that is for sure.

I have nothing in the house to eat so I need to go to the store tonight. The bad part of that is the damn fridge being broken. AUGH!

I have my last meeting of the week this morning. I am just about meetinged (not even sure that is a word) out.

I think Drew has a game scheduled for tomorrow but once again, we are living our lives at the mercy of this damn rain.

The princesses will be around to pick up my garbage today. I am in no mood to even get into that.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit better.

You gotta love the game

The rain held off yesterday and I hope we are as lucky today. The humidity is high right now and the air is really heavy. I fear the mosquito population will be huge this year because of all the moisture.

I read last year that Catnip is a very good mosquito repellent. If I give it a shot, I will let you know how it worked.

Yesterday Jess had softball practice from 9-11 and the volleyball practice from 11-1. Drew had baseball practice 6-8. Tonight Jess has a softball game here in Perry.

Nancy had the grandkids over last night and Angie (a sixth grade science teacher - she eats lunch with us on Fridays during the school year) brought her kids over and they all played in the cul-de-sac. Jess setup an obstacle course for them and they played in that for awhile then just rode scooters and played with sidewalk chalk. The cul-de-sac is a good place for the kids to run around. Very few cars and it is easy to keep an eye on them.

Once again, I should have taken some pictures. I am not sure what the hell is wrong with me that I always forget about taking pictures. I could have taken them on my phone so it's not like it was an issue of having to keep a camera around.

Our school administration center is moving to a new building this summer. This morning Nancy and I are meeting with the superintendent, the business office staff and someone from the city to do a walk-through of the new building. The city is purchasing the building and letting us use the second floor. The city offices/chamber of commerce will be on the third floor, the school admin offices will be on the second floor and the first floor will be conference rooms and a reception area.

I agreed to play in a golf tournament next Monday. A guy from work wants to play and I agreed. It is best ball so I can suck and it shouldn't matter. He recently cut his thumb and had to have surgery and is in a cast. He said he can still golf so I guess we will see. If I can't beat a guy in a cast, I am thowing my clubs away!

We have a guy at the country club that lost his hand, not sure how, but he has a hook. He golfs with that damn hook. Maybe we could get him on our team as well. How funny would that be. A guy with a cast and another with a hook and then me. All we need is a guy with an eye patch and I think the picture would be complete.

Ok, off to start my day.

When you are up 18-0, why would you leave your starting pitcher in?

The rain is falling and the thunder and lighting are overhead. Needless to say, I am not a big fan.

So the Bluejays and Jayettes took an ass kickin last night. Drew's team got 10 runned in the 5th inning of their game. Jess and the Jayettes weren't so lucky. They were down 12-0 in the 1st inning and ended up losing 18-0 after 3. They only got through the batting order once and Jess was the only one who didn't strike out. She popped up a ball over third base and the outfielder caught it. The high school boys team also got 10 runned after 4 innings in their game.

Tonight we have nothing!!! Drew has practice at 6 but there are no games on the schedule.

We will still have a few teachers around today but the majority of them will be gone for the summer. We have summer school classes starting today and those will go on until the end of June with the exception of the elementary. They have two sessions and pretty much go through the whole summer. (Those students have to be hating life.)

Summer school is only half days though so not as bad as it could be.

I wish my cold would go away. I am still coughing and have all the cold symptoms. I want to feel good for a change.

So there are some good things going on right now. The summer is just kicking off and the countdown to California is beginning. While school was going on it seemed like that trip was too far away but now that it is june it is just a few weeks away. I hate the travel part but it will be great to be out there.

Tuesday is one of my favorite days of the week lately. There aren't any games or activities and "Hell's Kitchen" is on. The kids and I sit in the front living room and I have a glass of wine and we watch that show. It is the one time of the week we just kind of hang out.

Ok, off to start my day.

What is the world record for having a cold?

It is Monday and the first day of summer break but it seems like every other Monday we have had over the last few months. Cloudy and rainy. Kind of a crappy way to start the week.

This weekend, the weather was perfect. The sun was shining it was warm and not humid.

Jess played in a softball tournament. I was outside in the sun for 10 hours. My face and arms got burned pretty good but seem fine today. They ended up losing two and winning one. Jess is slap bunting and it is really working well. I think she had about a .650 batting average for the day and that is very good.

Drew played a game yesterday. They won 13-12. He had two good hits and made a great play on first. They had runners on 2nd and 3rd. The batter hit the ball to short stop. The short stop threw it to Drew on 1st, he stretch for the catch and made the out, then came off the base and threw to home and got the out at home.

I tried to stay in the shade during his game.

Jess also played in a volleyball leage yesterday. They won both matches.

This week is going to be busy. Drew and Jess both have games tonight. Jess has games, Wed, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

We still have teachers around today and I have some meetings so I really don't count summer break starting until Wednesday, when everyone is gone.

I still have my cough and a bad voice. It is going on three weeks now. This sucks!

Off to start the day.
