Some people live with their heads up their butts

We finally made it to Friday. It is good to be at the end of the week. I need the weekend really bad right now.

Drew was all jazzed up about starting last night and then the coach didn't start him. No explanation, he was ready to go in and he just put in the normal line-up. What the heck is up with that? He is a young kid and has never coached before and has his head up his butt most of the time anyway. I am going to say something to him today though. Drew was pretty disappointed.

Jess has a game tonight in Adel. It should be a pretty good match-up. We haven't played them yet but have similar records so we will see.

I have some lab work to do today. DMACC is conducting a COMPASS test at our district and it is web based. It has been a huge pain to install and we, as a department, have put in close to 15 hours on this dang thing. Well, it still doesn't work so someone from DMACC is coming out to help get us going.

If I would have known how big of a pain it was going to be, I would have put the kabosh on this dang thing from the get-go.

No plans for the weekend. There is an update that I need to put on our school adminstration server so I may go in on Saturday for a bit to install it. Other than that, I am hoping to catch up on my sleep.

Ok, off to start.

Very long day

The weather is cold today but going to be 40 something Saturday. The 7 day looks ok too. At least snow is not in the forecast.

So it was a long day yesterday. Worked all day and then had class. We are moving a bit slow with the group. I have one lady who is a very, very slow typist. We are doing MLA formatted research papers and it took forever. I knew it was going to be a long night around 7. I ended up leaving right at 10:00 and that was because the custodian said we had to go because he needed to lock up. I should tip him.

The 40 minute drive home seemed long and I hadn't eaten anything so I was hungry. I wasn't sure what I wanted more, food or sleep. I opted for a bowl of cereal and went to bed.

I feel ok today but would rather be in bed.

Drew is starting on the A team tonight for his basketball game. He said he had a couple good practices and the coach said he deserved to start. Good for him. He struggles at time because Jess has so much success. It is a lot to try to follow. I had a talk with him yesterday about it and I think it helped.

Nothing on the agenda today. Jess has basketball practice and then off to Ankeny for volleyball practice. She has a game tomorrow night in Adel. We really should win the game but it depends on which team shows up and if they can shut down Jess. They shut her down and we are done.

Ok, off to start.

Second verse, same as the first

I have no idea about the weather. Probably cold.

The girls lost last night. Jess had a team high 12 points but they just didn't play that well. We are still having trouble playing good defense. Jess was guarding one of the best players in the league and had a really good blocked shot against her. It was pretty cool even though they said she got her with the body and called a foul. It was worth it.

I teach class tonight and I still have some papers to grade prior to the start of class. I probably have more out of class work than the students do.

A couple of meetings this morning and one in the afternoon. I think the rest of the week is open though so I just need to get through today.

Drew has practice after school today for a change so he gets to sleep in this morning.

Really nothing special going on right now.

Mom-That joke you sent me about the bankers jumping, made me laugh so hard I had tears in my eyes. Very funny.

Off to start.

It's so cold, I have to put on a coat to look out the window

Winter is still sucky. Cold and more cold with snow mixed every few days...repeat. That has been this winter in a nutshell.

Jess has a game tonight at Winterset. I think it is about 45 minutes away so I will have to leave right from work.

Class went well last night. We went through the material for the day and we got done early. I thought I was missing something but for the life of me I couldn't remember what. After everyone left and I was packing up my stuff to go home, it hit me. THE PRE-TEST!! I forgot to give them the pre-test. Oh well! Next week.

I have a couple meetings today. Nothing big.

Jess' basketball coach and one of the assistant coaches pulled he aside last night at practice and told her they really think she should play on the all-star team. They told her they would help her fund raise. One of the assistant coaches, Cassie Hagar, play Division 1 Basketball at UNI and had a chance to play in the WNBA said she played in it when she was in high school and it was great and an extraordinary opportunity. They fund raised for her and she had the whole trip paid for with the money they raised.

I am not sure what we are going to do.

The University of Minnesota is really sending Jess a lot of stuff for track. I bet she gets a letter every other week.

Drew has early morning practice so I am off to take him.

I'm out!

3 or 4 more inches of snow...and more on the way...what the...

Snow fell this weekend and it was a bit of a mess. I don't really feel like talking about the weather right now so I will move on.

The number 1 team in 3A girls basketball fell on Saturday. Too bad we played them on Friday.

It was actually a respectable game. Jess lead the team with 11 points and they lost by 20 something. It was close for awhile. Right before half we were only down by 2. We seemed to run out of steam.

Saturday she had a game at Des Moines Christian. It was a crazy game. Three of our starters fouled out. The refs were calling every little touch foul they could see and a few they couldn't. The game went into overtime, that is when jess fouled out. We ended up winning by one. Jess lead the team with 18 points.

After the game, the other team's coach waited for her as she came out of the locker room. He told her he coaches and high school all-star team and wants her to play on it. He gave her a letter with the details. They play in a tournament in Hawaii. They would go a week in August, after softball is done. I don't think she is going to do it. It is expensive and we have put a lot of money into volleyball this year. It was flattering though.

We headed to Council Bluffs at 4:30 AM yesterday morning. It was a snowy mess. I almost turned around because the conditions were so bad. We ended up making it ok as you can tell because I am writing this today.

The girls played well but lost in the quarter finals to an 18 year old team.

I teach class tonight. Jess has a game at Winterset tomorrow. I teach class Wednesday and I think Thursday is a break.

Ok, off to start.
