Wet leaves are a drag

Things are looking up. The rain is gone and it is Friday. It isn't going to be the best day, weathe wise but it is an improvement and in life it is important to appreciate the little victories. A dry day is a little victory and I'll take it.

The volleyball team lost 3-1 last night. The team they played was pretty good but it seems that our team has kind of given up on the season. They were flat and out of sync. Jess played well and during the game one of the refs asked our coach what grade number 5 (Jess) was in. She said sophmore and he said "Really, she's very good." I was sitting in the area when he said that.

Drew decided to not go to the game so he stayed home alone last night. I can always tell when he is getting a bit scared because he calls my cell to see when I will be home. The call came about 7:30 last night. He locks all the doors and nervously waits. He could have come to the game so he had that option.

The HS football game is away tonight. Jess was asked by one of her friends to go to Lake Okaboji this weekend. They have a cabin or time share or something up there so they are leaving tonight. It will be a good break for Jess. A chance to get away and not worry about school or sports. They have practice Sunday night because the first round of regionals is Monday.

Time to post the pics.

Have a great weekend. GO BIG RED!

Why is this lemonade so warm?

Thursday morning and its the same stinking weather that we had Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday - Crappy! It is rainy and cloudy and make you want to kill yourself kind of day. On the bright side it is Thursday and the weather is supposed to get better tomorrow and through the weekend.

Jess has her last regular season game tonight. It is in Nevada and I want to go but not sure if I am going to. It is about an hour away and that kind of sucks to drive that far. If it wasn't the last game of the season I wouldn't be going but since it is coming to an end for the year, I would like to make the trip. I guess it will depend on how the day goes.

Drew and I were home last night, just the two of us. Jess had an FCA thing and Dawn was at her league volleyball and then they went out for drinks after. Little Drew and I had steak and mashed potatos for dinner and watch TV. It was nice. We watched "Kid Nation" and "Chef Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares". Jess came home and hung out for awhile so it was a nice evening.

This morning I got pictures loaded to my computer but am running out of time to post some of them. I am a bit closer to getting more pictures to the blog and I should be them posted tomorrow.

I have a bunch of work to do this morning. We are replacing four computers in our business office and it is a pain. They have three accounting systems that need to be loaded and a bunch of other little pain in the butt software. The plan is to take the machines to the admin center, setup a little network, install the software, have them test it and then swap their machines. I am hoping to be done by lunch time.

It is a three day weekend for the kids this weekend. There is an all day teachers inservice on Monday so NO SCHOOL. WHOOOO-HOOO!

I am not sure what I am looking foward to more, Friday or the weather to change.

More tomorrow.

I need a mental make-over - is there a reality show for that one?

It is hump day but it really sucks! It is still rainy and it looks like we may get a bunch of rain this afternoon. Here's the deal - I can tolerate a wet and dirty spring - I expect a hot and humid summer - winter always sucks with snow and all but Fall is supposed to be the time of year that things are nice. Cool, low humidity, fall colors, nice breezy days, Octoberfest. A time that enjoy the most. So far, this Fall has been a suckfest! Mother Nature still sticking it to us.

Yesterday was a crappy day as well. My car was supposed to get fixed but the mechanic didn't have the right part after all so instead of the $50 to get it fixed, he is looking for a part at a junkyard and who knows how much it will cost now. So my window is still held up with Ducktape. Real nice!

Work was a mess. Constantly busy and not enough time to get it all done. Nancy got completely ticked at me yesterday. That sucks!

Went to Jessica's practice last night and worked with her after practice on serving, and hitting on the right side. Her coached stayed and helped us, which was nice. She has a tryout in a couple of weeks and we wanted to get her practicing hitting right side because she plays center or Perry.

Drew had a potluck, so I went to that and it lasted until 8. Came home and Drew didn't do the dishes like I asked, so he is grounded. House is a mess.

The bright side to the whole day was Tom Osborne is back! The new interim AD at Nebraska. He is like the patriarch of the Husker Nation and will bring the family together again. Everyone knows it isn't an easy fix but there is something comforting knowing TO is back and will do everything in his power to bring everyone back together and get a coach that is what Nebraska is all about. Maybe Turner Gill or Bo Pelini or maybe reach back to his old friend Monte G.

I need a little sunshine.

More saga tomorrow.

A 900 calorie breakfast burrito and a skim milk

The weather was crappy for my birthday but there were some good things that came out of the day. Steve Pederson got fired so maybe we can get an AD at Nebraska that can fire Callahan and crew and get in a coaching staff that can get us back on track.

The volleyball team won last night. It was senior night and the last home game. They won in three straight and the other team was very poor. In reality our team played poorly and would have lost to even a mediocre team. The team we played was just flat out bad. Jess had a decent game. She was matched up with thier best player, a senior, who was tall and could jump well. Jess and her battle back and forth most of the night and had pretty much of a stale mate. They would rotate out at the same time so we pulled away when that other girl got out of the rotation. Jess didn't have the best stats of the season but did a good job keeping their best player in check. That girl was blocking Jess pretty well too.

It is another raining morning and I think we are going to get a small break before it starts up again. It is supposed to rain all day Wed and Thurs. The sun will finally make an appearance for the weekend, starting on Friday. Another reason to look forward to Friday!

Molly got her first haircut and is cute as a button. I will take a picture of her and get it posted. I know, I have no credability when it comes to promises of posting pictures to this blog. I will get it done soon. lol

Overall my birthday went well. Nancy made me Lemon-Popiseed muffins for breakfast and brownies for my birthday cake. (Her brownies are awesome and I am addicted so it was a great gift.) She also got me a DVD of the first season of "The Office". That is my favorite show.

The secretary at the middle school gave me a card and some chocolates.

The only bad parts of the day were the weather and having to work!

Today I am just a day older and the weather still sucks.

At least every week has a Friday!

Rainy days and Mondays - together like the perfect mood killer

From the moment of my last post to today things have gone downhill. The weather has been completely crappy. Rain and clouds from Friday night and it is still raining as I type this. It is supposed to be crappy pretty much all week. BONUS!

The huskers are as pathetic as I have ever seen. Callahan seems to be wanting pity instead of getting fired up and making some changes. It is time for him to go! It is sad to see the husker faithful leaving at halftime because they could no longer tolerate the sight of their beloved team getting destroyed on the field by a mediocre OK-State team. I never thought this day would come.

I got sheets for my bed for my birthday and Jess made me Manacotti and cheese bread for dinner. It was very good. I helped her but she did the bulk of the cooking.

Jess has a volleyball game tonight. It is the last home game, senior night. The season is coming to an end.

Molly is getting a haircut today. It is her first and I feel sorry for the groomer. She is a wild child dog and will be a handful for even the most experienced groomer.

I am not sure what this day or week is going to bring. With the weather being crappy it is puts a damper on a cheery atitude but I am going to be optimistic about today and this week. The one thing about the start of the week, you never know what can happen. A week of wonder could be launched today and having a positive attitude about things make it more probable to be good. I also was told by Drew yesterday that I am not supposed to be grouchy on my birthday.

Happy Monday!
