The countdown to summer break continues

Finally Friday and I couldn't be happier about it. The weather is going to be good today and through the rest of the weekend.

Not much of note from yesterday. Drew had a track meet and did the discus and the 4x100. Today is his last track meet and he is done with track (probably forever).

Last night I shampood (not sure if that is a word) the carpet in the front living room. I got it all cleaned up and it looks good. It is where I sit and watch tv at night so I wanted it to be clean and nice. It makes me feel better to be in a nice clean room.

One meeting this morning but it shouldn't take too long. We have a grant and the lady in charge of the grant is meeting with me to see if they can buy some technology for the middle school. I have a few ideas of what they can buy to help the students so we will see how it goes.

Yard work is in store for the weekend. I need to mow tonight and then tomorrow I need to get the yard sprayed for weeds. I have dandilions like nobodies business.

I also need to try to find some time to get a haircut in. Even baldies need a haircut once in awhile.

Nancy says we have some radishes coming up in the garden. I will go over tonight and check it out.

Jess has her conference track meet Monday.

Off to start.

Honky Tonk Heroes

Well, the sun is shining and the birds are singing so there isn't much about the morning that I can complain about. I think today is going to be nice and maybe a little rain tomorrow.

Drew had a baseball game last night. They lost 15-7. He had a pretty good game. He played first base the whole game and made some nice catches. He had 4 "at bats"; struck out once, was fielded out once, had a base hit and then an RBI. The team started strong but ended weak.

Jess has been practicing hard at track. They have had some very physical workouts the last two days and I would imagine the today and tomorrow will be the same. We have our Conference track meet on Monday and then Regionals, which qualifies them for State on Friday. Friday's meet is really the only meet all year that matters so they will be nervous.

One meeting this morning and the rest of the day is free. I have some work to do but overall it should be a good day.

Drew has a track meet tonight and tomorrow night and his track season is over. He will be glad about that.

Off to start.

Sometimes you just need a drink

Middle of the week and it looks like the weather is going to be hit and miss today. Popcorn rain, is what they call it.

Drew had his first high school baseball practice last night and really enjoyed it. He felt like he learned a lot and thought it was fun. He is practicing two sports and three team right now. He has track practice, then HS baseball and then little league baseball practice. He gets home about 8:30 at night. Track ends for him this week so that will help. He doesn't like track anyway.

I have a busy schedule today and one meeting tomorrow morning. Get through that and the rest of the week is smooth sailing (knocking on wood).

I have a bunch of yard work to do this weekend but the weather is going to be good so that will make it ok.

It looks like Jess will run at state (unless something unthinkable happens) on Thursday evening. Her first event would be at 4:30ish and that would be the 4x800. I am not sure if that event will make it to state or not but we will see. She will for sure run at 7:30 that night in the 400. She is ranked #1 in 3A so she has a great chance of being a state champion this year.

The other event they have a shot of winning at state is the Sprint Med relay. They run Saturday morning. They are currently ranked 3rd in 3A.

Ok, much to do so off to start.

Track - Prom - Vegetables

The weather is going to be ok today. Maybe a little rain but rain is in the forecast for tomorrow.

The weekend was busy. Jess had prom and everything went well. I will post some pictures of it later this week.

Nancy and I put in a garden this week. It took a dang long time and was a lot of work. I am not used to that kind of hard labor and I was sore for the rest of the weekend. Just tilling the ground was a major pain but we got it all in and and it looks good. We should enjoy the fresh vegetables this summer.

Last night was my last class for the semester....WHOOOO-HOOOOO! I am so glad to be done. All I have left is to enter the final grades into the system. It is great to be done.

Jess had her last regular season track meet last night in Saydel. She got 4 gold medals. 1st in the long jump, 1st in the 400 (a new meet record 59.4), 1st in the 200 (New meet record 26.7 and it was the first time she ran the 200 this year), and 1st in the Sprint Med Relay. It was a good night for her.

Drew had a track meet last night as well. He threw the discus 59 feet and ran the 4x100 relay.

I have nothing on the schedule for today. It is going to be a day just to stop and take a breath. No events, no meetings, DMACC classes are done. I am celebrating on a Tuesday.
