In a race to see who sucks the most, I think Rush Limbaugh still wins but Hannity is a close second

Thursday is golf day. It is also the day the ladies that work for the garbage department put on their sundresses and high heels to pick up the residential garbage.

Jess started the vasity game last night but they got beat 10-0. They played Winterset who is ranked and we are not very strong. Our pitching is poor and we have some definite weaknesses in our lineup. I am not sure if she is going to keep her varsity spot or not but I am thinking she will. She played pretty well for only practicing twice before the game. She actually hadn't even practiced batting against a live pitcher this year before the game.

The team is young and will struggle to win games, especially early in the season.

The next game is tomorrow in Norwalk. Norwalk is about an hour drive so I am waiting to see if she is going to play varsity before I decide if I am going to not.

Drew doesn't have anything until next week. It really kind of stinks because I was teaching when he had that string of games and now that I can go, they don't have any for awhile.

Work is going ok. I can't wait for the school year to be done. We are in a bit of a hovering pattern. We are just waiting to get going on our summer work. I also want the students and staff out of the building.

The gas prices just keep getting higher and higher. It is really going to put pressure on families in this community. Just going to ball games is becoming a big expense. Friday the hour drive to Norwalk and back will use a quarter tank of gas or more and when you figure the amount per gallon of gas, I wonder how some families are going to be able to make it. I am guessing some of them just won't be able to go to away games.

I know some people commute to work everyday. That is going to get more and more expensive. You add in the cost of groceries going up and you have a bunch of people in trouble. As much as I complain about the things at work, I am happy I have a good job.

The sun is shining and the sky is blue. I think we may get some rain later but I hope it holds off until after I golf.

Off to start the day.

If I have one more pancake, I think I'm gonna puke!

The weather is still pretty nice. I have this damn cold still so that has kind of put a damper on my mood. Still have a runny nose, head conjestion and a bit of a sore throat. I need to get rid of this soon.

Drew's game was cancelled last night. I am not sure why, they just announced it at school. It was a nice day so I really don't know why the couldn't play. Anyway, he has practice tonight. I am not sure when the next game is.

Jess has a game tonight. The girl they had playing first base was sick yesterday so the coach told Jess she will most likely be starting varsity tonight. She told her she didn't really want to start her, for fear she wasn't ready since she hadn't practiced much, but they didn't have much of a choice. She isn't suiting JV tonight. The only concern she has is if the other girl is fine, will the coach just play her and have Jess sit and not even get the JV time she was scheduled to have? Once again.....Whatever!

I am going to the JV game just in case she ends up playing.

Work has been pretty cool lately. The office has been slow and we haven't had many issues to deal with. The staff is just riding the rest of the year out and it has been pretty quiet. They have field trips and watch movies and blah, blah, blah. I think everyone wants this school year to end.

Gas prices are ridiculous. I filled up the tank last night and it cost me $45. What the hell!! I can't imagine having a big truck or SUV. I would imagine it would be in the hundreds of dollars to fill up.

We have a three day weekend coming up and I am looking forward to getting my yard cleaned up. I have been kind of lazy about it so far this year and I need to get on the ball and get it looking good. I don't think we have any games or anything this weekend so I should have the time to get it done. I think the weather is going to hold up as well.

Off to start Chicken, chicken day. Only one more of those this year by the way.

I think somebody has a screw loose

The weather is going to be nice the rest of the week. Last night we have some rain and some thunder. Drew had his game last night. They lost but he played well. I went to the wrong town for the game and we were late for the start. Drew played third base for a couple innings and then pitched 2 innings. He did a very good job pitching. I think the first time he only face 4 batters. He struck one out and then walked one and the other two grounded out.

He has a game tonight. It is a makeup game but it is here in Perry.

Jess had a rough day yesterday. School was hectic and the softball coach has the two track girls playing JV. The game on Wednesday, Jess and Daphne, which are probably the top two atheletes on the team, are playing JV. I don't think it is that big of deal but it irritates Jess. They also gave out uniforms while they were at state for track so her and Jess got large uniforms and different numbers from last year.

I think that part is crappy. You have a returning started and a projected started get penalized for making it to state in track. They should have at least get the uniforms they had last year. An 8th grader has Jess' uniform.

Only in Perry can you pit one activity against another.

Today should be a better day for her. I think both kids are looking forward to the end of the school year.

I bought a new dryer yesteday and they are delivering it today.

You have got to be kidding...Dude! Do that at home!

So I have this cold. It is just draining all of my energy and quite frankly kind of making me a zombie. I was sitting here drinking my coffee and surfing the web and I almost forgot to post the blog today. It kind of just shot into my head, CRAP! THE BLOG!!

Today the weather is going to be ok. Drew has a baseball game tonight in Granger. The HS boys have their first game on the new field tonight as well. Jess has softball games Wednesday and Friday. I am not sure if she is going to get to play. The rumor is the coach has said the track girls will have to sit out 4 games for missing practice becuase of track. Whatever!

Speaking of track. Jess had a pretty good weekend. She got second in the 400 and second in the Sprint Medley relay. The 800 she had to run right after the Sprint Med and she didn't have anything left and ended up running a second slower than she did at Regionals. The 4x400 team ran poorly and didn't advance to the finals. So 4 events and 2 silver medals. I am pretty sure she will get a gold before she graduates. The same girl that beat her in the open 400 also anchored the winning team in the Sprint Medley relay. Jess ran the exact same split as her in the anchor leg but she had a lead going in so she just couldn't gain on her.

I should note that I was sitting in the stands Saturday morning waiting for the races to begin and some dude sitting a few feet down from me, take off his shoes, then his sock and start CLIPPING HIS TOE NAILS. What the hell is that all about. You bring clipper and decide to do that in the stands at the state track meet?

The weather was awesome of the meet. It was a very nice weekend in general. I have this cold and my nose is running and I have a cough, sore throat and I feel exhaused all the time. It really sucks. I think I slept for about 18 hours yesterday.

Nine school days left before summer break. Track is over and we are gearing up for all the softball and baseball games to come in the next month and a half. I really enjoy watching the kids play but being gone almost every night gets to be tiresome. I think we will be pretty much done with things by the second week of July. It will be good for the kids to get to go to the pool and just hang out a bit this summer.

The girls from Jess' club volleyball team want to come to Perry and go to the pool at the country club. It should be fun for them. The girls on the team were texting Jess and congratulating her on 2nd at state.

Drew had a good time at the play on Friday. He said he enjoyed the play better than the movie. I will have to take him to the school plays next year.

Off to start the last Monday of the school year.....Next Monday is Memorial day, NO SCHOOL!!!

It was quite a race

The weather was perfect yesterday for a track meet. It looks like we are in for similar weather today.

Jess got 2nd at the state meet yesterday in the 400. She ran her fastest time of the year, 56.98 seconds. The girl that beat her ran 56.87. It was very, very close. She was very happy because the best time she ran this year was 58.10 so even though she didn't get the gold, she had a great time.

They will meet again in the Sprint Medley relay. Both Jess and this girl are the anchor legs and they are seeded #1 and we are seeded #2. We have a shot at getting a gold in that event.

Today she runs in the 4x400 relay. It is a preliminary round so they just have to be in the top 8 teams to advance to the finals on Saturday afternoon.

Drew has a field trip today. They are going to a park and playing games but also helping clean up the park. The weather will be really good for this. He is looking forward to it. He also is going to a play tonight. It is the stage version of the book "Holes". I think there are 30 or 40 kids going. It is a school thing.

I played my first round of golf last night and really sucked. I shot a 54 but had most of my strokes in the first three holes. I hit two balls in the pond on hole number 2 and one ball in the pond on hold number 3. I did pull it together at the end a parred the last three holes. I did drink a little beer and we ended up getting three out of four points.

I got a little sun burned yesterday so the sun screen definitely has to go on today. The parking at the track meet is a mess and it cost $8 to get in. Between the cost of gas, admission and food, this is costing a small fortune. Well worth it to watch the Goose run though.

Overall we had 5 runners from Perry run yesterday. Daphney Baumgartner got 23rd in the 3000 meter run. Abby Sohn got 23rd in the 200. Christina Cole ran the 400 with Jess and I think got 18th or somewhere around that and our one boy qualifier James Collingsworth got 9th in the boys 400 meter dash.

We will see how the day goes.

Money grubbing, dirty rotten, filthy bastards

Today is a big day! Jess runs the open 400 at State and the weather is going to cooperate. It is going to be an exciting day.

Drew had a baseball game last night and they won. He played third base the whole game and had 5 outs. He fielded the ball and threw the out to first base three times and had a couple plays at third. He also had the game saving out on third when a kids tried to steal and the catcher threw the ball to Drew and he tagged the kid out.

I taught class for the last time for awhile. It went ok but the group is a little difficult and they really don't want to be there. I am glad it is over.

Jess got interviewed for the radio yesterday after practice. She was very excited about it and it should air this morning at 7:10. I can't wait to hear it. It should play a few more times throughout the day.

If you want to watch the track meet and see Jess run LIVE. Here is the link: http://www.ihssn.com/events.aspx?sport=track

I just found out it cost 6 bucks to watch it. Last year it was free and this year the bastards are charging. That sucks. I was going to have it stream at the high school today but I don't think it will work if I have to pay for the damn thing. Money grubbing sons of bitches!!!!

Ok, I will have much more to write tomorrow.

Go Jayettes!!! and the Goose!!!

California Dreamin to get me through the day

So there seems to be a day every week that is just one of the days you really want to just get past. Today is that day for me. We have another school district coming to visit and take a look at our student information system. I am not looking forward to it. It is kind of being a host of a party you didn't want to throw.

I also have to teach class tonight. It is the last one until August though, so that is good.

Here are some bright points about today.
  • The weather is good
  • It is early out
  • I plan on having Subway for lunch
  • It will be over in less than 24 hours

Tomorrow is the start of the state track meet. It is probably the most important day for Jess becuase it is her chance to get a gold in the 400. I am not sure if she will or not but I am sure she will run as hard and fast as she can. You can't ask anymore than that.

Jess was told yesterday that the softball coach said all the track girls are going to have to sit out for 4 games for missing practice. She is a little ticked off about that but whatever. It is not like they are off screwing around. They are at track practice for crying out loud. We will just wait and see how it goes.

Drew has a baseball game tonight. Of course I am going to miss it becuase I teach class. It is away. I think at Woodward. He has a pretty big week this week. He is going on a field trip Friday and then to a play Friday night.

Golf league starts tomorrow and I think the weather is going to be good. I am sure I will stink up the course but I don't really care. Of all the things in life to be worried about, my crappy golf game is about 1 billionth on the list.

I am looking forward to the California trip. A little over a month away!

The state track meet can be watched LIVE online. I will post the site information and the times that Jess runs tomorrow.
