Class went well last night. I thought I was going to get out early but it ended up being after 9:30 before my last student left. I don't have to teach Wednesday so I really didn't care if I had to stay late.
I don't think I have anything on the agenda for today. My tech at the high school is gone this week so I have to deal with checking out the laptop cart today but that isn't a big deal.
We had our budget cut meeting yesterday and it didn't go well. Some people were willing to offer up some cuts to their departments or building and others just sat and said nothing. The conversation turned a bit ugly when two or three people weren't willing to offer anything up.
In the end the Superintendent is going to just give each department or building a dollar amount he wants them to cut and we will have to decide what we want to cut. I think this will be a bit more fair but it kind of ticks me off that a couple of our "managers" don't think they have anything they can cut. Give me a red pen and their staff list and I will be happy to do it for them!!!!!
I guess I will find out how much I need to cut within the next week or so.
Tomorrow I have a morning training session and a facility committee meeting at 5. Jess has her regional playoff game at 7 here in Perry against Nevada. We beat them both times we played them this year but they have improved and we seem to have gotten worse.
I think Jess has a volleyball tournament every weekend for the next few weeks. They are all in central Iowa so it won't be too bad. I think she plays in Bondurant Sunday.
Drew has been enjoying his time off in the evenings. He had a friend over for awhile last night. We will watch TV together tonight.
OK, off to start

Cold, Snow..yeah, yeah...blah, blah, blah
Weather - Winterlike!
The weekend was rather uneventful. Drew and I went out to dinner Saturday night. It was nice.
Jess played in a volleyball tournament in Minneapolis. She was contacted by a coach from North Dakota State University. They want her to play for them. He said she would play right side and play right away.
It isn't where she wants to go but it is at least an offer in volleyball from a bigger school.
They ended up being a number 1 seed for the tournament. They played well the first day and the morning of the second. They lost steam and lost the first match of the tournament. It is a continuing trend with this group. Play good in the preliminary rounds and stink it up in the actual tournament.
I have a couple meetings this morning. One is a budget cut meeting for next year. Not looking forward to that one.
I teach class tonight and that is pretty much it for the day. Jess has basketball and volleyball practice tonight.

Bastards and rodents
Friday.....the 13th (cue the sinister music)
Snow in the forecast. Not sure how much we will get, they are saying 2-6 inches.
The girls lost the basketball game last night. Jess scored 11 but missed some close shots. They were contested but she should have hit them.
Toward the end of the game the girl she was guarding swung her elbow hard, back into Jess. It knocked the wind out of her and the ref called a foul on Jess. Well, I about lost it. One of the other refs came over to the first ref and said the girl intentionally swung her elbow but the first ref would hear none of it. Called the foul, two shots for the other team.
We were down by two and there were 6 seconds on the clock. The play they drew up was for Jess to get the ball out of bounds, drive to the basket and take the shot. We had another girl (the ball hog) was to be on the opposite side of the basket to get a rebound in case she missed. Well ball hog ran to Jess' side and brought her defender with her. Jess was already double teamed so there were three on her. She took the shot and missed as time expired.
She feels like she lost the game for the team but I talked with her after the game and told her she is going to have a bunch of last shots and some will fall and some won't. I told her that when she hits the game winning shot in a game, remember how she feels now. A fine line between goat and hero.
No school today. Jess has practice this morning. Drew had a friend stay overnight last night.
Tomorrow Jess has practice and then heads up to Minneapolis for volleyball.
I hate snow. The ref from last night and that damn Puxatony Phil ground hog are both on my list of thing/people that need their ass kicked.
With a bit of attitude, I start my day!

I wish we could automate garbage pickup....
We are going to get a bit of snow tomorrow but today looks ok.
The postal service is raising the price of stamps again. Will we eventually see a day when a stamp costs a dollar?
Class went ok last night. I gave them a test and it took a few of them the entire 4 hours. What gives with that? The final test has the test they took last night and it is only 1/4 of the test. I am not sure what I am going to do with the group. I was planning on the test taking a couple hours at most. I guess I better think up, Plan B.
I didn't see the kids last night so I have no idea how their day was yesterday. I didn't get home until a little before 11 and they were both in bed.
Jess has a game tonight and it is a boys/girls game so the girls play at 6 and then the boys play after. The coach told the girls last night that if they don't win, they shouldn't count on watching the boys game because he is going to make them practice during it.
I hate to tell him, all the practice in the world won't help if he lets one of the weakest players on the team, shoot the ball 80% of the time.
We don't have school tomorrow. It is a conference make-up day. The teachers work two evenings for conferences totaling about 8 hours so they get a day off to make up for it. Tomorrow is that day.
Jess has a volleyball tournament in Minneapolis this weekend as well but she has basketball practice Saturday morning. She will probably miss all the matches that day but should be good to go Sunday.
Her knee is getting better. I think it still bothers her a little but not enough to complain about. If it was bothering her, I wouldn't have her play volleyball this weekend.
Not much else worth mentioning today. Two meetings at work and then the rest of the week is open.
The ladies should be around to pick up my trash today. Filthy bastards!

Don't bother.....the post is lame
Middle of the week and it looks like we are going to get some snow on Friday. 6-8 dang inches....son of a b&*#^&*!
I have a few meetings today and then teach class tonight. I also have a couple meetings tomorrow so it will be really good when Friday gets here.
Jess had a 3 hour basketball practice last night. She didn't get home until almost 7. She was not a happy camper. Her knee is still sore but I think it will be ok. It will just take time.
Drew is glad basketball is over, he gets to sleep in a bit.
I have nothing else.
Off to start.

Don't blink, you might miss something
Weather is warm but windy and maybe a little rain.
Drew's team won last night and he scored 10 points. He had a good game to end the season.
The girls lost their game and Jess twisted her knee and she is having trouble walking around. She did it in the first quarter of the game and played with it. It tightened up after the game and she has a limp. I had her take some ibuprofen and put Icy/Hot on it. I hope it is a little better today. The last thing we need is her injured going into track season and with a volleyball tournament this weekend.
Class went well last night but I was there until 10. There is a girl in class that doesn't have a home computer so she has to do the homework during lab time.
The school board presentation went well. I think things are a go for the trip. It was more just for informational purposes and they asked a few questions but really didn't have much to say.
The tenants said they were going to pay their rent yesterday. I will check today to see if they deposited the money.
Nancy and her sisters are putting their dad in a nursing home this morning. Icky time for her and her family but it will be the best for everyone. She will be gone most if not all of the day today.
Life is moving right along. Nothing tonight. Teach Wednesday. Thursday Jess has her last home basketball game of the year. It will be senior night. Friday there is no school so it is going to be a good day.

There has to be some kind of drug for this
They cycle of life continues today. Back to Monday.
It is going to be rainy this morning and then I think better the rest of the day. Maybe windy.
The weekend was ok. The basketball team got beat Saturday but won Friday. Jess played well Friday but was a little off on Saturday. Ball hog was in full gear on Saturday so they couldn't score. I think the ball hog was 6 for about 40.
Both kids have away games tonight. For Drew this is the last game of the season. I have to teach so I won't see the games.
During my class tonight I have to go to the school board meeting and do a little presentation about PowerSchool training. They are cutting back on travel and I have to go and justify the expense. We would like to go to training again in June but I guess I will have to wait to see what they say tonight.
I have to call my tenants today. I haven't received the rent yet. It is a monthly battle with them. I would love to just tell them to get out but I worry about not getting another tenant in quickly. As bad as they are, they still pay utilities (well I think they are) they cut the grass, shovel the driveway and sidewalk, etc.
It is a short week at school. The students and teachers have Friday off for a teacher conference comp day. It will be good to have this short week.
There is much more to say but I am not really in the mood to go into it all.
