It's the little things that get you

The weekend was wet and then hot and humid. Today really humid.

Drew had a baseball game and the team lost. I think the ten run rule came into effect. Jess played in a softball tournament and they lost all of the games and came in last place. 12th out of 12 teams. The coaches are blaming the players for not being "focused".

The latest excuse the coaches had were blaming the girls for having boyfriends. They said this is distracting them. I guess the teams that kick our ass are all lesbians. Whatever!

Both kids have games today. Drew's team is actually ok. They win more than they lose. He plays first base and does a good job.

Yesterday I worked like a dog. Pulled out bushes in the back yard and halled them to the burn pile out at Gene's. I also mowed and had the kids help me clean gutters (They were gross).

I leave for California Sunday and I am really looking forward to it.

Off to start.

Been up 10 minutes and already need a nap

It has been hot and sticky the last couple of days. It is good to have air conditioning.

Last night we had a strong thunderstorm come through. It happened late so I was in bed and missed it.

The softball team lost another game last night. We lost to Adel 8-0. We are not very good. Jess plays ok but we just don't have good batters. We had 5 errors and 1 hit. You can't win games with that stat.

A meeting this morning and then Drew has a baseball game at home and Jess has a softball game at home.

The softball coach told the team the reason they lost last night was the varsity girls went and watch the boys JV for about 15 minutes before their game and that showed they weren't "focused". blah blah.

I think it is supposed to storm today with a high in the 90's.

Off to start.

Will the AC come on this week?

It was a pretty good weekend. Jenny and Matt came for a visit. We had a good time.

Friday afternoon we had a softball game and it rained the whole time. I think it is my first time watching an entire softball game under an unbrella. The night game was canceled.

Jenny came Friday night. They brought Tucker so it was an adventure with Molly but things worked out. Tucker is a great dog.

Saturday Matt and Jenny headed out to adventureland with their kids. I went to Drew's baseball game and Jess had day two of her tournament in Urbandale. Both teams lost but Drew's game was pretty good and he played well.

Drew and I headed to the softball tournament for the last game. The girls lost but Jess hit a triple that was about 5 feet from being a home run. She was thrilled.

Saturday night we grilled out. It was late when we all got home but the food was good. Micky came over and ate with us. The little kid were sleeping when Jenny got back so they took them to bed. I stayed up until midnight chatting with Jenny. It was nice.

Sunday I gave them a tour of the high school and middle school. We rode the scooter and hung out. They left a little after noon. It was good to see them and I was very happy they came. Molly has been looking for Tucker since they left.

Drew has a freshman game today and Jess plays at home tonight. Our superintendent is leaving at the end of the month and they are having a golf outing for him today. I haven't swung a club in over a year so it should be interesting. It is 4 person best ball so I hope I have a good player on my team.

I have some pictures for the blog, I will try to get them posted this week.

Off to start.

Noah on speed dial

It was a wet and rainy weekend. The thunderstorms last night turned into a tornado to our west about 20 miles. It was north of Grimes.

The baseball game and softball tournament were canceled. The weekend was kind of a bust. I think we will have clouds and maybe some rain into Wednesday and then it is supposed to get nice.

Yesterday I had the mother of all headaches. It was a killer. It hurt so bad it actually made me puke. I went to bed at 7 and stayed there the rest of the night. Misery!

I am feeling better today but have a bit of a headache hangover. I hope it doesn't come back, I really can not live like that.

Drew has his first high school baseball game today. He plays here in Perry at 11. I think it is double header. I may stop over and watch a bit of it. He also has a Junior league game tonight at 6 and Jess has a softball game here in Perry.

I get my eyes checked today. I haven't had them checked in a couple years. I have been using contacts from like 5 years ago. It will be good to be able to see again.

Jess and Drew both start the summer weight lifting and practice schedule. Jess had to be at weight lifting at 6:30 this morning. She just left and was a bit grouchy about it.

Drew has weight lifting a 8:00 this morning. They both have basketball practice every morning after weight lifting. Jess will have volleyball as well starting next week. Drew has football 7 on 7 every Sunday night.

Jess thinks Drew should have to weight lift at 6:30 with her. Like I said....Grouchy.

Off to start.

Not quite the end of the rainbow but still pretty nice

The weather is going to be really good today. High in the 70's and sunny. It should be a pretty good day.

It is also the last day of school before the summer break. To top that, it is only a half day.

Both kids have games tonight. Drew is in Madrid and Jess has a home game.

Drew had his official 8th grade graduation yesterday. Even though he has this half day left, he is officially a high school student.

Jess has another final today but is done at 11. She will be a senior....ugh!

Life moves pretty fast doesn't it.

The teachers work all day today and then half of a day tomorrow. I plan on taking Drew to get his learners permit and get a license plate for the scooter tomorrow.

The California trip is just a few weeks away and I can't wait. Our new superintendent called me yesterday. She is really nice. I think she will be a breath of fresh air in the district but it will be interesting to see how she handles the tough stuff.

Not much else. Off to start.

In each life some rain must fall

The weather is wet and buggy. Unpleasant!

Drew had a game last night and it took about 3 hours. They won! It is the same team that they beat two other times but a win is a win.

Drew played 3rd base and 1st base. He got hit by a pitch, hit two to the outfield and was walked twice.

I spent the night battling bugs. I think I need body netting.

Nothing on the agenda for tonight. Both kids have games tomorrow. Jess has a game on Thursday and Drew a game on Friday. Jess also has a tournament on Saturday.

Today is the last full day of school before summer break. I have decided to try to make a change in my life. I am going to try to let things go and not let things get to me. I am going to be like a twig on the mighty Mississippi, just going with the flow. I have gotten to the point lately that every little thing give me stress and I am done with it. I need to relax and just worry about stuff that matter.

Most of the stuff I get worked up about, in the big scope of life, really doesn't matter. I guess we will see how it goes. I need to come up with a mantra to go along with my new attitude. I will see what I can come up with.

Molly has been really itchy and has scratched the hair off her hind quarter. I think I am going to take her to the vet to see what they can do. She doesn't have fleas, she is just really itchy. Poor thing.

OK, off to start the rainy day.

Scooting around

The weekend was nice. The bugs are just terrible here right now. It is ridiculous. I ended up spraying my yard with an insecticide. There were so many bugs that it was almost impossible to sit outside. They would just swarm.

Not much went on this weekend. Drew had saved up all of his lawn mowing money and bought a Playstation 3. I bought him a few games but that is how he chose to spend his money.

I bought a scooter. It is kind of like a little motorcycle but it only goes 30 mph max. It takes about 3 blocks to get it up to 30. Drew should be able to drive it to his baseball practice. He and I drove it around this weekend. Last night it quit working and won't start so I will have to call the shop and have them take a look.

Drew has a baseball game tonight but it might rain so we will have to wait and see. Jess doesn't have anything until Wednesday.

It seems very humid today. It seems the summer weather is already here.

Ok, off to start.
